The area is also a wonderful location for mountain biking, bird watching and walking. Choose to walk the Glyndwr’s Way, Cistercian Way or on Offa’s Dyke. Close by is the attractive Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells and the Royal Welsh Showground at Builth Wells. Rhayader with its regular livestock markets and spectacular Red Kite feeding station (daily), pottery, Welsh Royal Crystal factory and leisure centre with indoor pool and fitness suite. Bustling Hereford’s cathedral with its chained library and the Mappa Mundi draws visitors from all over the world. The book town of Hay-on-Wye with its international literary festival (in May) is close by. For children there is an indoor play barn and adventure park, a small breeds farm, an indoor activity centre, cycle hire or pony trekking. Eat well in the numerous public houses and restaurants with fine cuisine or choose from the variety of take away houses.
