The Cardigan/Ceredigion region is probably best known for its superb beaches and iconic harbour ports which make this stretch of coastline such a great place for a cottage holiday in Wales. It's where Dylan Thomas was inspired to write some of his best work and with the Cambrian Mountains as the back drop you can relax and enjoy a region full of wildlife and natural beauty.

The region's coastline offers mile after mile of golden sandy beaches, many of which have been awarded the coveted 'Blue Flag' award. Discover hidden coves and smugglers caves, old fishing harbours and magnificent cliffs where you can take the coastal path which extends some 60 miles.

There are two special areas of conservation here and a rich diversity of marine wildlife including Bottle Nosed dolphins, seals and sea birds. It's easy to hop aboard one of the many boat trips that operate from New Quay and Cardigan to fully appreciate this designated 'Marine Heritage Coast'.

Inland a great plateau rises to form the largest part of the Cambrian Mountains with Pumlumon Fawr its highest peak at 752m (2,468 feet). This large and remote plateau is broken up by steep valleys which include some of the most beautiful mountain passes in Wales.

Further explorations of local wildlife can be found at the Welsh Wildlife Centre. This great visitor centre stands on the Telfi Marshes Nature Reserve and, thanks to its glass fronted design and elevated position, offers incredible views of the surrounding area and a variety of wildlife.

Some visitor attractions and activities of interest include the National Wool Museum were you can learn all about the region's sheep farming heritage, or if you're feeling adventurous try the Cardigan Bay Watersports and Sea School. Here you can enjoy dinghy sailing, yacht cruising, power boating, windsurfing and kayaking in one of the UK's most glorious coastal locations.

Bryn Berwyn country house is a family holiday home set in a small cluster of residential houses, on a very quiet road that connects the minor coastal roads with the main A487 coast road. The minor coastal road provides a spur road right down to the beach of Tresaith. This is a sandy family beach that has been awarded the Blue Flag and has easy access for launching all manner of light craft, a hidden 50-foot waterfall, fabulous rock pools and dogs are allowed on one half of the beach (1st May - 30th September). The beach front has been quietly developed with one gastro pub, shop and public WC (including shower) - in keeping with the hamlet of Tresaith. Bryn Berwyn is set ½ mile behind and above the beach (10-minute walk). This grand Edwardian house that has commanding views across Cardigan Bay was originally built for a sea captain in 1909. It has changed hands and use a few times over nearly 100 years but is now a well established large family holiday home, very spacious with excellent facilities. The whole of the local area is rich and diverse - lovely walks, beautiful beaches and well stocked rivers allowing great opportunities to see dolphins, seals and otters. Not to mention fantastic bird life including rare birds such as the Red Kite and the Peregrine falcon! There are rare farm breeds in the area and regular country shows and markets.
