- Most visitors on a holiday cottage break in Dorset are attracted to the region for the Jurassic coastline, which condenses 180 million years of natural history into 95 miles of incredible, natural landscape. More adventurous holidaymakers may choose to walk the coastline in its entirety. However with a variety of attractions scattered along its expanse it would be far more advisable (and relaxing) to take your time and enjoy the fresh air, miles of unspoiled scenery and natural beauty of the UK's second World Heritage Site.
- Holidaymakers after a white sand beach may prefer to choose a holiday cottage near Swanage, in east Dorset. Alongside the familiar seaside trappings (lovely fish and chips, locally produced ice cream, deck chairs and pedalo rides), Swanage also offers a restored steam railway that runs to Norden and allows visitors to stop off and admire the majestic 1000 year-old remains of Corfe Castle, built in one of the most beautiful and expansive landscapes Dorset has to offer.
- A holiday cottage inland, gives visitors the chance to explore the delightful mature woodland and rolling hills of rural Dorset. As well as discovering the remains of Roman and Celtic forts, the heritage trail from Dorchester also lets holidaymakers experience some of the natural wildlife that lives in the beautiful unspoiled surroundings. And if you'd like to see some creatures you wouldn't expect to see in Dorset, then you can visit Monkey World in Wareham, where you can see a whole range of rescued primates. There is also a café, woodland walk, climbing and adventure play area, to keep your own little monkeys occupied.
