These two adjoining holiday cottages (refs 29834 and 29835) form part of the old Kelton Mill, a 19th-century water mill used to process corn. The machinery has long since gone from this converted mill but the atmosphere has been preserved in its beamed ceilings and antique furniture. This easily accessible county of Dumfries and Galloway is known for its natural landscapes, over 200 miles of rugged coastlines, sandy beaches, and the largest forest park in the UK. The area is a perfect rural retreat for those searching for a relaxing stay or an adventurous holiday. You will also find a great choice of harbourside pubs, country house hotels and restaurants. The 600 hectares forming the Threave Estate weave through woodlands, wetlands, peat and rock gardens. You can lose yourself in the secret garden and wonder round the sculpture collection. Situated on an island on the River Dee, Threave Castle is now only accessible by boat which adds to the stature, prestige and thrill of the place. Though still an impressive site for those visiting the area; the castle has been abandoned since the mid 1600’s and is now a large visitor attraction for those wishing to explore the mysterious and rugged ruin. The charming little town of Kirkcudbright is a short drive from the cottage as is known as ’the artist’s town’, attracting artists for well over a century. Nowadays, Kirkcudbright attracts visitors throughout the year drawn by the harbour, the historic high street with its colourful Georgian houses and the diverse range of annual events and visitor attractions. The popular programme of summer festivities culminates with the spectacular Tattoo, an event not to be missed. Beach 9½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Ground floor: Living room with dining area and beams. 3 steps to kitchen. Separate toilet. First floor: 2 twin bedrooms, one with 2 steps down, both with Velux. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.
