The Byre Ref: SBBW

Situated in the fantastic location of the Trossachs National Park, this beautifully renovated 18th-century barn conversion, adjoining the owner’s home and accessed via a rough track, lies in a peaceful location offering breathtaking views over Ben Lomond and the Menteith Hills. Gartmore is the perfect setting for those who love outdoor pursuits, with hundreds of kilometres of forest track easily accessible. The property has two large fields, both with a stream running through them, in which guests are welcome to take children and/or dogs. The ‘endless’ swimming-pool provides optimal swimming conditions for a single swimmer and the current can be adjusted to a preferred level of difficulty. Even without the current, it still makes a lovely sized pool in which children can swim and have fun.
This is an ideal location to explore one of Scotland’s most picturesque areas with excellent outdoor activities to be enjoyed including walking, cycling, golf, fishing, pony trekking and water sports nearby, as well the Rob Roy Way and Cycle Track 7, which both pass through Gartmore. Visit the Trossachs Discovery Centre to learn more about this exciting area, or a little further afield, why not enjoy a cruise on the stunning Loch Lomond. Stirling - with its ancient castle - is also easily accessible for the day and well worth a trip.
The surrounding district is steeped in history and there are many characters in Scottish history who have had vast amounts written about them, but few as famous as Rob Roy Macgregor, William Wallace and Mary Queen of Scots, all of whom had a part to play in the history of this area. Shop 1⅓ miles.

Otter View Ref: 30163

Otter View is beautifully placed to enjoy this wonderful scenic area known as the 3 Lochs, made up of Loch Ronald, Loch Heron and the Black Loch, all within an easy stroll of this cosy and well appointed detached holiday lodge. Otter Lodge is situated on Three Lochs Holiday Park which has many facilities available including a heated indoor swimming pool, 9-hole pitch and putt golf course and a tennis court, as well as activities such as fishing, archery, mountain biking and horse riding (all facilities and activities need to be booked directly with the holiday park). The nearby Galloway Forest Park is the UK’s largest at three hundred square miles and is a heady mixture of lochs, moorland, hills and a habitat for a variety of plants and animals. A great introduction to the forest park is to drive along the Queen’s Way. This is a very scenic drive linking Newton Stewart with Scotland’s smallest Burgh, New Galloway. The road holds lovely surprises as it winds its way through magnificent scenery. Wild goats thrive on the rocky outcrops and the red deer range, allowing an opportunity to see these elusive animals up close. The Forest Park has been designated a Dark Sky Park, and offers outstanding opportunities for star gazing and serious pursuit of astronomy, away from light pollution. Several of the 7 Stanes mountain biking trails are easily accessible from the lodge, at Kirroughtree, and Glentrool, where bikes can be hired from the holiday park, if you do not wish to bring your own. The Galloway and Ayrshire coasts are very accessible with the most magical seascapes looking towards Arran and Ailsa Craig. This area remains relatively unmarked by time. The roads are fringed with hedgerows, the beautiful beaches are surprisingly devoid of people and the Galloway Hills are every bit as challenging as some of their loftier neighbours in the north. There are outstanding gardens open to visit at Castle Kennedy, Logan Botanical Garden, and Glenwhan. Beach 9 miles. Shop and restaurant on site, pub 6 miles.

3 steps up to entrance. All on ground floor: Living room with French doors/dining area/kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin (2ft 6in, for children). Shower room with toilet.

Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freesat TV. DVD and small library. Gas hob. Electric oven. Microwave. Shared laundry room. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Enclosed decked area and furniture. Shared lawned area. Parking (2 cars). Shared heated swimming pool (booked directly with holiday park) with shower and changing facilities. Shared tennis court. Books and games. Welcome pack. Pets free of charge. No smoking. No children under 8 years. NB: 3 steps to shared lawn. 3 lochs in grounds, 165 yards.
