At the gateway to the Highlands, the beautiful town of Callander lies on the River Teath, east of Stirling and is the perfect cottage holiday base from which to explore the Trossachs National Park and Loch Lomond.

The town is situated below high wooded crags, with dramatic views to the Forth Estuary on a good day. Lochs, mountains and picturesque towns are all within easy reach.

Cycle paths trail the ancient Callander to Oban railway and provide a chance to see some of the most beautiful scenery; walkers will find numerous routes of varying difficulty surrounding the town. Pony trekking is also very popular in the region, through woodland, stream and hill terrain and is a great way to get close to the local wildlife. If you play golf head for Callander Golf Club, a scenic 18-hole course with lovely views of the surrounding landscape and Ben Ned.

For some local history of the area visit Cambuskenneth Abbey, this houses an important collection of medieval artefacts and has one of the country's oldest gothic bell towers. The abbey was built around 1147 and is a historical landmark is at the heart of ancient Scottish politics.

Callander is well placed with easy access into The Trossachs National Park and Loch Lomond for relaxing days out surrounded by the beauty of this protected area.

Enjoy good local produce at Callander's many eateries ranging from tea rooms to high end fusion restaurants. A number of traditional woollen mills and plenty of gift shops selling local crafts and traditional whisky are can also be found in town.

Situated in the fantastic location of the Trossachs National Park, this beautifully renovated 18th-century barn conversion, adjoining the owner’s home and accessed via a rough track, lies in a peaceful location offering breathtaking views over Ben Lomond and the Menteith Hills. Gartmore is the perfect setting for those who love outdoor pursuits, with hundreds of kilometres of forest track easily accessible. The property has two large fields, both with a stream running through them, in which guests are welcome to take children and/or dogs. The ‘endless’ swimming-pool provides optimal swimming conditions for a single swimmer and the current can be adjusted to a preferred level of difficulty. Even without the current, it still makes a lovely sized pool in which children can swim and have fun.
This is an ideal location to explore one of Scotland’s most picturesque areas with excellent outdoor activities to be enjoyed including walking, cycling, golf, fishing, pony trekking and water sports nearby, as well the Rob Roy Way and Cycle Track 7, which both pass through Gartmore. Visit the Trossachs Discovery Centre to learn more about this exciting area, or a little further afield, why not enjoy a cruise on the stunning Loch Lomond. Stirling - with its ancient castle - is also easily accessible for the day and well worth a trip.
The surrounding district is steeped in history and there are many characters in Scottish history who have had vast amounts written about them, but few as famous as Rob Roy Macgregor, William Wallace and Mary Queen of Scots, all of whom had a part to play in the history of this area. Shop 1⅓ miles.

This property is close to Gleneagles where the 2014 Ryder Cup took place, come and play a round of golf all year round on this world-renowned course.
