Set on a Highland estate spanning 4500 acres with hills rising to 2500ft, these four holiday properties are situated on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park with a wild flower reserve nearby, and an abundance of wildlife including ospreys and huge herds of deer. For 300 years Cistercian Monks spent half of each year at this peaceful place, making butter and cheese and brewing beer from the pure springs that continue to feed the houses. Delightful 18th-century Clover Cottage is reached from its parking area via a short track across a stream. With its own large garden with views towards the great massif of the Grampians. Claypotts is a charming 18th-century cottage, is in an utterly peaceful glen at the heart of the estate with its own enclosed garden on the banks of the River Isla. Croft End Cottage, a 15th-century cottage lies secluded behind double hedges and is a romantic yet fabulously comfortable place perfect for explorers, lovers and honeymooners. Brewlands Cottage is a 17th-century, cosy, very comfortable property in a lovely riverside location with fishing from the garden and views of high hills and surrounding quiet countryside. There are ancient wild flower meadows with rare wild yellow violets and orchids. Red squirrels live around the gardens and the walls support rare ferns and lichens which grow only in unpolluted places. Walking from the door of each cottage. Excellent golf courses at St Andrews, Carnoustie, Gleneagles and Rosemount. Glenshee ski resort is 35 minutes, as is Pitlochry with its theatre, restaurants and kilt and cashmere shops. An adventure centre 20 minutes away, with pony trekking at Balmoral Estate and many castles and stately homes to visit: Balmoral, Glamis, Blair Atholl, Scone Palace and Braemar. Tawny Cottage Ref: CC524054
Tawny Cottage is a fabulous recently converted luxury holiday property nestling in the countryside three miles from Blairgowrie in Perthshire. The interior has been tastefully decorated and beautifully co-ordinated.  Outside, to the rear of the cottage, there is a raised deck which provides a private and secluded spot to relax.  It has a fantastic sunken hot tub for you to enjoy after a day walking or cycling.   Downstairs the cottage has an open plan living space. The lounge area has a wonderful log effect gas stove which is remote controlled.  From the comfort of the sofa you can enjoy the view through the patio doors and perhaps catch a glimpse of the resident Tawny Owls whose nest box you can see from the lounge.  The kitchen area is fully fitted and well equipped with a wooden dining table and leather chairs. There is a downstairs shower room and a main bathroom upstairs.  On the first floor the rooms have combed ceilings with velux windows.  The bedroom has a lovely king sized bed and there is also a second TV. 
This tastefully converted holiday cottage provides a fantastic base to explore the stunning Perthshire countryside.  There is so much on offer here, with something to experience for all ages and interests. Right on your door step there are numerous trails and quiet back roads where you can enjoy walking or cycling.  There are five lochs connected by the Lunan Burn, some are within easy reach providing great opportunities to go fishing and to canoe or kayaking (permission required on some lochs).  Loch of Lowes is looked after by the Scottish Wildlife Trust and a must for bird watches – in the summer you may see Osprey, Great Crested Grebe, otters, red deer and red squirrels to name a few.
Blairgowrie is your closest town and it has a great selection of shops and eateries. It has two championship golf courses – Rosemount & Lansdowne – plus there are numerous other courses to be found in the surrounding area.  Take a drive past the amazing Meikleour Beech Hedge – officially the tallest hedge in the world!   The Glenshee Ski centre is just 35 minutes’ drive beautiful to drive or walk around in summer, and ski/snowboard in winter. For adrenalin seekers there are many outdoor pursuits such as; white water rafting, cannoning and even a bungee jump. For a more relaxing adventure there are some wonderful drives through magnificent scenery. In the summer months there are many soft fruits grown locally, especially raspberries.
Dunkeld is only seven miles away and is the oldest town in Highland Perthshire. It is a cathedral town which sits on the banks of the beautiful River Tay. On the opposite bank lies the Victorian village of Birnam. They are linked by the magnificent Telford Bridge which was built in 1809. There are wonderful castles to visit from Scone Palace to Blair Atholl.  Whisky lovers can enjoy sampling some of the locally produced ’water of life’ after a few distillery tours. The City of Perth, to the south, has a large selection of shops, restaurants, leisure facilities, cinema and theatre.   Pitlochry, to the north, also has a fantastic theatre which boasts a different show every night of the week.  During the autumn Pitlochry is home to the wonderful Enchanted Forest – an open air light & sound show.  Tawny Cottage is a great cottage to stay in, with a fantastic countryside location and with easy access to explore Central Scotland and in particular stunning Perthshire.  With great road links you can easily venture further afield; east into Angus and Dundee, south to Fife, Stirlingshire or north to the Highlands, Grampians.

A small lane runs along the side of the cottage providing access to the back of the property and a small yard.  From Avonlea it is only a short stroll down to the town centre where there is a good selection of excellent pubs, restaurants, cafes with great baking and interesting local shops to meander through.
