Strachur village itself is well provided with amenities and has an excellent hotel which welcomes non residents for drinks and meals. It also has a well-stocked village shop with attached tea room and bistro, all of which are within easy walking distance of the cottage. There is a slipway where a small boat or dinghy can be launched, and also tennis courts. Nearby, there are interesting and historic towns and villages. Inveraray is the closest town. Oban, known as the ’Gateway to the Isles’, with its colourful harbour, and the dramatic mountains of Glencoe, near Fort William are scenic day excursions. In a different direction, the Kyles of Bute are nearby and in yet another direction, you pass through the mountainous scenery of the National Park to Loch Lomond with its cruise boats. Wildlife is abundant, there are some glorious gardens to visit and there are plenty of outdoor pursuits including walking and cycling. Shop/bistro 1/4 mile, hotel pub 1/2 mile.
