Providing an imposing backdrop to Sligachan, and indeed, dominating the landscape of the Isle of Skye, is the rocky mountain range known as The Cuillin. The Black Cuillin is the part of the range that contains the highest peaks and these are easily visible from Sligachan. Many climbers are attracted to Sligachan every year to try to traverse this imposing range of mountains. However, you do not need to be an experienced climber to experience the majesty of The Cuillin and the surrounding area, as there are many less energetic walks and climbs available. One such walk is around the peaceful Loch Sligachan, which sits at the edge of the town. The stunning scenic vista that meets your eyes here is something that the majority of visitors do not forget in a hurry.

The Sligachan River is renowned for its abundance of salmon, making it the perfect place for a spot of fishing. If you have access to a car, then simply driving around the Isle of Skye is a great way of taking in the amazing landscape. The most impressive of these is the magnificent Dunvagen Castle and Gardens, located on the shore of Loch Dunvagen.
