Country Cottage epitomises the very best of cottage living. This immaculately presented stone cottage has been superbly and lovingly restored by its current owners to an exceptionally high standard. It cleverly combines the height of modern living with quintessential cottage charm. The delightful lounge has a welcome wood burning stove and deep leather sofas. An exposed stone wall leads through to the bright, modern kitchen/dining room. All the bedrooms are beautifully presented with colour coordinated soft furnishings and with two bathrooms it is ideal for two couples or a family holiday. French doors lead out from the lounge to the pretty cottage gardens, which have been attractively landscaped with lawns, flower borders and picnic table and chairs. An ideal spot to sit and admire the view across open countryside to the hills and distant sea views beyond. Originally a 19th century farm cottage, it is situated in a quiet country lane adjoining open farmland, less than 2 miles from the charming fishing village of Munlochy. This attractive village looked to sea for its livelihood and it has changed little in the past 150 years. Munlochy Bay is also noted for its bird watching; it is a haven for a wide and diverse range of migratory and wading birds and identified as a site of special scientific interest. The Clootie Well, less than a mile from the cottage has a fascinating history. Thought to be the home of a fairy to whom the gift of cloth was given before drinking the health bestowing water, the surrounding trees are festooned with cloths and good luck trinkets.

All fuel, power, bed linen and towels included. Unlimited supply of fuel for the stove provided. Cot and high chair available. Wi-fi (first £15 of internet use free).

Tourie Lum Ref: SXXX

Enjoying wonderful panoramic views over surrounding farmland and on towards the waters of the inner Moray Firth, this interesting detached holiday property (adjacent to another holiday property) has been equipped and furnished to a very good standard to ensure as comfortable and relaxing holiday as possible. The house dates from the 1860s and was originally a gamekeeper’s lodge to the Rosehaugh Estate and architectural features include whitewashed walls with exposed sandstone surrounds and crow-stepped gables, typical of Scots Baronial style. Tourie Lum, which means ‘towering chimney’ in Old Scots, is accessed by a single track and is located on the edge of the Black Isle fishing village of Avoch, overlooking the site of the historic Ormond Castle which is believed to have been a stronghold of William the Lion, King of the Scots from 1165 to 1214. The Black Isle makes a perfect base for exploring the many delights of the Northern Highlands. Visit the lovely villages along the Moray Coast or take a distillery tour along the Moray Whisky Trail. Inverness, the Highland capital, Loch Ness and Culloden Battlefield are just a short drive with the stunning west coast being an easy day out. The many activities available in the area include golf, mountain biking, water sports and boat trips, fishing, quad biking, walking and climbing to name just a few. For the less energetic, sit back, relax and watch the ever-changing scenery. Shop and pub 1 mile.
