Find cottages in LochinverVisit Lochinver

The small Highland fishing port of Lochinver is situated amongst some of the most stunning and wild landscapes in Scotland. Located in a sheltered bay north of Ullapool on the shores of Loch Inver, the town has a busy fishing harbour and fish market that forms the focal point of village life.

In fact the village is home to Scotland's second largest fishing port, and its busy fish market provides the excellent 'fresh from the sea' produce which can be found in the local restaurants or even taken back to your cottage!

Hillwalkers and climbers are drawn here by the famous mountain Stac Pollaidh, and one of Scotland's most northerly Munros, Ben More Assynt. Several lochs and rivers also attract anglers and fishermen due to the quality and numbers of the wild brown trout and salmon. This is also a great spot for Wildlife; The isolated location is home to golden eagles and you may also spot dolphins and whales.

During your visit get down to the beautiful Achmelvich Beach; with its clear turquoise waters and soft white sands, it wouldn't look out of place in the Caribbean, or visit The Assynt Visitor Centre which has displays charting the geology, history, wildlife and cultural heritage of the area.

The distinctive Highland stoneware pottery is also based here, and visitors can take a tour to view how the pieces are made. The Highland and Rare Breeds Farm is a great stop for families.

Check out the range of cottages in Lochinver for a perfect base to tour this remote but beautiful part of the world.
