Find cottages in KingussieVisit Kingussie

The small and welcoming town of Kingussie is situated in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park surrounded by the stunning Highlands landscapes that makes the town a favourite location for filmmakers and television producers as well as, of course, holidaymakers.

Despite its fairly small size, Kingussie is a warm and lively town with plenty of outdoor activities on the doorstep. Situated in the foothills of the Monadhliath and Cairngorm mountain ranges and on the banks of the River Spey, the town itself has a selection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops, indeed, the restaurants here are regarded as some of the finest in the area, serving delicious locally sourced produce. Kingussie also happens to be a town with a fine shinty heritage. The sport of shinty has been played here since the beginning of the 19th century and is still very much a local passion.

Of course, most people come to this area for the fresh, bracing air of the great outdoors and the scenic splendour of the Highlands. Perhaps not surprisingly, there is a wealth of outdoor activities on offer here, from walking and cycling to fishing and water sports. Walking is the most popular of these activities and there are a variety of trails in the area suitable for all levels of walking ability and fitness; from gentle woodland and riverside strolls, to full-day hikes, Kingussie has plenty to offer.

For a great family day out, visit the Highland Wildlife Park, featuring both a drive-through and walk-through area, the Highland Wildlife Park is home to a host of animals including tigers, camels, polar bears and Scottish wildcats.

A stone's throw away is the lovely village of Newtonmore which is equally enchanting for a cottage break in the area.

The majestic natural beauty of the Cairngorms National Park awaits visitors to Kingussie, so check out the availability of cottages in Kingussie for your holiday in the Highlands.

The Hunting Lodge is an Austrian chalet set in its own grounds in green managed woods and large open spaces, accessed by a rough track, this property provides peace and privacy yet is close to all amenities, and the excellent grocer in Kingussie will deliver. True to its name, The Hunting Lodge offers fishing and rough shooting by arrangement, and is also well placed for accessing all areas of one of the best-served holiday areas in Scotland. Visitors can enjoy learning about Highland life going back to the 1700s in a living history environment with the backdrop of a wonderful natural setting where red squirrels can also be observed.
