The River Ness runs through the city and offers scenic riverside cycling and walking within the city boundaries; from the waterside there are great views of the castle which occupies the old town and dominates the sky line. Other points of interest include the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery and the fascinating Church Street which has some of the oldest buildings in the city. Relax in riverside restaurants and busy pavement cafes or enjoy the mix of independent retail shops.

Cruises are available down the Caledonian Canal to Loch Ness and Culloden Battlefield isn't too far away where there's a new visitor centre to help you learn everything there is to know about this historic place.
