You can take your pick from the many sandy beaches in the area, including the aptly named Big Sand, which is accessed through extensive sand dunes and is well sheltered from any winds and Redpoint beach which has the most spectacular views out to the Western Isles and is the perfect spot for a picnic or simply to enjoy the sun setting over the Hebrides.

Head to the Gairloch Marine Life Centre for loch and sea cruises, as well as an extensive local wildlife information centre. Cruising out in to the Loch, you'll discover the breathtaking coastline of Gairloch while getting close to common and grey seals in their natural habitat. It is also just a short walk to the harbour. Along the pier there are a selection of small shops, a cafe and post office. There are a number of excellent sea and wildlife boat trips that can be booked from the harbour, as well as sea fishing trips and excursions in a glass bottom boat.
