Find cottages in DingwallVisit Dingwall

The historic market town of Dingwall was formerly a Norse settlement and in 1226 was made a Royal Burgh. It sits at the head of the Cromarty Firth, and is an excellent place from which to explore this picturesque region of the Scottish Highlands.

Dingwall has a good selection of shops, many centred on the High Street, which is now mainly pedestrianised and you'll also find lots of bars and restaurants serving a wide range of cuisine.

The museum, housed in the tollbooth in the centre of the High Street, has a tower dating back to 1730 and is well worth a visiting to see the local artefacts and find out about the town's history. Pefferside Park in the town offers boating on the pond, a children's play areas and tennis courts.

The Black Isle, actually a peninsula, lies close to Dingwall. This rich agricultural area is a haven for wildlife including a growing population of red kites. Bottlenose dolphins can be seen off the coast in the Cromarty and Moray Firths and boat trips take visitors out to see them up close. Killer and minke whales have also been spotted here.

To the west are the beautiful landscapes of the central Highlands for days out amongst mountains, lochs and lovely villages such as nearby Strathpeffer . There are some wonderful walks in and around Dingwall including the Heritage Trail, which takes about an hour and a half and visits many points of interest in town. Cycle hire can also be found for exploring the area by bike.

A little further afield discover local whisky distilleries and historic castles; there also some excellent golf courses within the region.

Come and discover this lovely area; search for cottages in Dingwall today.
