It's a place to enjoy rich cultural heritage, bustling city life and some of the UK's most glorious countryside handily placed right on the door step.

The city attracts visitors from around the world who come to see its wonderful architecture and learn about its rich history. The Old Town is well known for the Royal Mile which extends along cobbled streets from Edinburgh Castle to Grassmarket. The New Town is equally fascinating and in contrast with the Old Town has a well ordered street grid layout with wide boulevards and grand neoclassical architecture. In both areas you'll find national galleries and museums and a host of historically significant buildings. Located just outside the city in Holyrood Park, Arthurs Seat offers a relatively easy climb to the top with some spectacular views.

Horticulturalists will love the wonderful array of colours that can be found at the Royal Botanic Gardens, which has one of the world's largest living collections of plants you'll find. More regal encounters can be found on board the Royal Yacht Britannia, now permanently moored in Leith. Despite now being out of service it remains a uniquely fascinating icon from British history.

The Lothians rich heritage extends to the surrounding countryside of west Lothian, with castles and historical sites, rolling countryside and country walks. In east Lothian you'll find beautiful stretches of quiet sandy beaches and some of the finest golf courses in the world.
