Find cottages in AyrshireVisit Ayrshire

Ayrshire in Scotland's south west has miles of quiet coastline and is a region just waiting to be explored, rich in beauty and awash with cultural heritage.

Positioned between the rugged heights of the Galloway Hills in the south and the Firth of Clyde to the north, a holiday in this area provides a wealth of wonderful vistas and lots of fantastic activities and days out.

We have years of experience of offering holiday cottages in Ayrshire to our holidaymakers so why not let us suggest a few things to see and do.

Culzean Castle and Country Park is typical of Ayrshire's undoubted charms. This huge castle is one of Scotland's most beloved and once you visit you'll see why. Set off the south Ayrshire coast it tells the tale of the Kennedys, one of Scotland's most famous families, whose history can be traced back to Robert the Bruce. Culzean still contains the family's trophies; the house and stunning grounds, stand as magnificent tributes to its heritage.

Robert Burns is probably Ayrshire's most famous former resident and one of Scotland's favourite sons. The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in the village of Alloway is a fascinating tribute and a great visitor attraction in its own right. The nearby Burns Monument and Gardens prove an equally popular tribute and offer a fantastic opportunity to brush up on Scottish culture and history while admiring your idyllic surroundings.

Dean Castle and Country Park is undoubtedly one of the region's best-kept secrets. Explore the castle's fascinating history before taking a leisurely stroll in the grounds and enjoy a host of activities in the 200 acre park. You can even bring the dog!

Ayrshire's varied landscape makes it perfect for a variety of different holidays. Pet owners and those looking for active breaks will find a wealth of activities in the rugged hills and lowlands. If you'd prefer a more relaxed pace, you'll find a number of excellent golf courses that take advantage of the beautiful scenery.

The region's colorful history and rich heritage makes it perfect for those looking for a more involving exploration of their holiday destination.

If you're ready to begin your exploration take a look at our selection of holiday cottages in Ayrshire today.

Charming stable block apartments, close to Victorian manor house
Set in 15-acres beautiful grounds with lawned areas

Set close to Largs on the Firth of Clyde, these charming holiday apartments have been carefully converted from the stable block of a delightful Victorian manor house, which is located some 200 yards away along a tree-lined drive. Offering every modern comfort and convenience, enjoy the relaxing ambience of the scenic setting. You can relax amid 15 acres of landscaped grounds, or in the lawned areas, which are surrounded by woodland. There are wonderful views of the hills and islands of the Firth of Clyde, and plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. There are two golf courses, trout farm fishing, sailing, nature trails and pony trekking, as well as cruises aboard the famous ’Waverley’ paddle steamer. In Largs (2 miles) you will find the Kelburn Country Centre and Vikingar - an exciting all-weather leisure centre, with a swimming pool, 500-seat theatre and children’s soft play area. There is also a choice of small shops, a supermarket, post office, pubs and a station. Although an attractive seaside resort now, Largs like much of this area has enjoyed an interesting history - in 1263 it was where the Norse fleet were defeated. From Largs take a ferry to Great Cumbrae Island and visit the aquarium, near Keppel Pier, and the ’Cathedral of the Isles’ on the sandy bay at Millport. The Cumbraes are not the only isles within easy reach. Go from Wemyss Bay across the waters to Bute, or drive south to Ardrossen and arrive in the exceptionally mild island of Arran. Arran is home to a wealth of places to visit, including the NTS owned Goatfell (2,866 ft) with its magnificent views from the Clyde coast to the Hebrides and Northern Ireland. Golf enthusiasts will enjoy making the trip here, as Arran has 6 courses in which to shoot a round. Manor Park is well-placed for anyone looking to plan a diverse holiday itinerary. Whether you take to the sea or prefer to head inland, there is much to fill the days. Within an hour’s drive you can reach Loch Lomond, Burns country and Glasgow, with Edinburgh just a little further. Pub 2.5 miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin with en-suite shower room. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Gas central heating and electricity included (£45per week 21 August-18 June). Bed linen and towels included. Cot. High chair. Microwave. Laundry service. Fridge/freezer. Shared 15-acre garden and furniture. Parking.
