Find cottages in GirvanVisit Girvan

Located on the Ayrshire coast, the town of Girvan boasts beautiful coastal scenery, rolling green hills and a vast array of historic castles within a short distance.

Due to its origins as a fishing village, it should come as no surprise that much of the activity in Girvan is centred on the harbour area. From here, you can enjoy a cruise around the island of Ailsa Craig, depart on a fishing trip for the day or just take a leisurely stroll. In town don't miss the wonderful floral displays in the summer months.

In addition to fantastic coastal views, more scenic splendour can be enjoyed by walking or cycling through the lovely Carrick Forest, part of which backs onto the town.

The area around Girvan is renowned for its many castles of which undoubtedly one of the biggest attraction is the grand Culzean Castle, one of the finest historic properties in the whole of Scotland. Perched dramatically on a cliff top and with a vast area of landscaped gardens and dense woodland, Culzean Castle is a great day out for all the family. In addition to all of the treasures to be discovered within the castle itself, you will find a host of shops, cafes and restaurants located throughout the estate.

Those who play golf will know this stretch of coastline has some challenging, top-class links courses, which could be tempting during your stay.

To discover more about the rich history of this scenic coastal town, search for cottages in Girvan today.
