These cottages (refs SBW, SRRL and UAA, see below for individual description) are set on the beautiful Kildalloig Estate on The Mull of Kintyre. Set against the rugged beauty of the sea and the wild landscape of the Kintyre Peninsula, they provide an idyllic sanctuary, offering modern amenities and historic coastal charm. Surrounded by natural beauty and sea views, each cottage is comfortably furnished, provides wonderful character and history and has been thoughtfully arranged to accommodate couples, honeymooners, families, golfers, hikers, birdwatchers and other visitors. There are wonderful stretches of secluded beach and coastal walks (with coves and rockpools, ideal for children), and the fascinating little island of Davaar with its lighthouse, cave painting and wild goats which can be reached on foot at low tide. There are marvellous walks along the coast and through woodland on the Estate – where seals, otters and a variety of birds can be seen – and in the hills, where golden eagles soar. The cottages provide the classic Scottish seaside holiday spot - with an abundant number of rocky and sandy beaches close by and pristine sandy beaches within 5-15 minutes’ drive. Activities locally include surfing, sea fishing, horse trekking, mountain biking and island hopping to Gigha, Islay and Arran. Kintyre is home to five golf courses - the most famous is the championship course at Macrihanish with its stunning and infamous first hole. There are a further two 18-hole golf courses - Southend and Machrihanish Dunes and two excellent 9-hole courses in Carradale and Tarbet. Campbeltown (4 miles) has supermarkets, shops, restaurants and leisure centre (with swimming pool, gym, sauna and sun beds). In its day, Campbeltown had over 30 whisky distilleries. Today only two survive – Glen Scotia and Springbank, with the latter offering tours by appointment. Further attractions in Campbeltown include the Campbeltown Cross, the quaint Art Deco cinema, the Birds of Prey centre, the Museum, the Linda McCartney memorial garden and the Mull Lighthouse. Ballimenach Farmhouse is a spacious but cosy coastal farmhouse perched on a hilltop overlooking the Mull of Kintyre Peninsula. The views from Ballimenach are spectacular with sea views throughout. Comfortably furnished, the 4-bedroom farmhouse provides a spacious base for family gatherings. The beach and surrounding coastal paths are a mere 165 yards. There is an enclosed garden that provides plenty of space for relaxing and for children to play in as well as a sheltered patio area. To the rear of Ballimenach is a beautiful wooded glen and stream, the surrounding fields are occupied by grazing sheep and cattle, which are farmed organically. The building has wonderful original features and is full of character; thick stone walls, some narrow slit windows, coombed ceiling upstairs and all the interior wood is Douglas Fir which has been harvested from the grounds of the farm itself, then hand crafted to achieve a high standard of detail.  The open plan living space has a wood burning stove, leather suite, wooden dining table and chairs.  The kitchen is fully fitted and well equipped. The two bedrooms upstairs are spacious and light with velux windows.  The cottage has its own small enclosed garden area to the front.  Benmore Botanic Gardens are only a short stroll along from the cottage and you are provided with passes which allow you free access to the gardens during your stay.

Close by are miles of beautiful, white, sandy beaches and for walkers, the Kintyre Way runs from Tarbert in the north to Dunaverty Bay in the south. There are five unique golf courses in the area, including Macrihanish Dunes and they are known as some of the best courses in Scotland. Nearby, daily ferry trips run to many of the smaller isles including Arran, Islay and Gigha. Take a trip via an RIB to see the seals and puffins around Sanda and the Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse. Campbeltown has a cinema and leisure centre, or visit the Campbeltown whisky distillery for a guided tour, where you can partake in ‘a wee dram’. An interesting walk can be taken at low tide to Davaar Island (check the tide tables first). Pebbly beach 280 yards, sandy beach ½ mile. Kenmore is a stunning detached self catering property located in the small village of Strachur, which lies on the east shore of Loch Fyne. This holiday house has commanding views over the sea loch and the mountains beyond. The interior of the house is spacious and bright, the rooms are generously sized each tastefully decorated and beautifully coordinated. The lounge has a wonderful open fire, large sofa’s and a big screen TV. French doors lead out onto the decking at the front. The dining room is adjacent to the lounge accessed through glazed double doors. The kitchen is to the rear of the house and has a lovely view over the surrounding fields where sheep and cows may be grazing. Downstairs also has a twin bedroom and cloakroom. Upstairs has a further three bedrooms all with sea views - one twin and two double (one with en suite) plus the main bathroom. The house has off road parking and a large grassy enclosed garden. The  neighbours have hens who love to be fed, so you may be lucky and get a wonderful freshly laid egg or two during your stay! The seafront can be accessed just across the road from the house, where you can fish from the shoreline, or a canoe/kayak could be easily launched. The wildlife locally is fantastic, you could see a variety of bird life, otters have been spotted in the area. Seals are also visitors, as are the gannets which are fabulous to watch dive for their supper. The local village has a number of facilities - including shop/cafe, Inn with bar/restaurant, petrol station, village hall and tennis courts - all within easy walking distance from the house.
