Find cottages in AberdeenshireVisit Aberdeenshire

Aberdeenshire in Scotland's north east offers fantastic access to some of the best that the country has to offer; and as well as having plenty of holiday cottages in the region for you to choose from, you'll also discover breath taking landscapes, rich history and lots of activities for all the family. With such an abundance of things to see and do, you won't have to travel far from your cottage to find some fantastic ways to enjoy your holiday.

It's an area that is tailor-made for relaxing outdoor holidaymaking, offering a wealth of activities and attractions to help make the perfect Scottish holiday break. For example you can enjoy some of the most stunning walks in the highland fells, explore the region's rich history through its many archaeological sites and castles, or head for the coast to relax and enjoy the fresh air, with the most beautiful coastal views.

The region's history is perfectly encapsulated in the incredible Dunnottar Castle. This stunning 14th century fortress offers breathtaking views and thanks to its cliff-top location allows you to bask in some of the region's most beautiful scenery.

Staying in a holiday cottage is also the perfect way to explore the region's whisky heritage. The Speyside Cooperage in Craigellachie grants a uniquely fascinating insight into the production of oak casts. The only one of its kind in the UK, it forms part of the celebrated Malt Whisky Trail.

The outdoor pool in Stonehaven is equally unique. The last of its kind in Scotland, it offers clean seawater heated to 29 degrees C and makes for a uniquely relaxing way to enjoy your break in Aberdeenshire.

Skiing in the Cairngorms is of course one of the highlights of the winter months but thanks to a number of dry slopes it's also possible to pursue your passion in the summer season if you like!

For those after the simple pleasures in nature the region has a multitude of rivers and waterways, making it a haven for anglers and wildlife lovers keen to relax and enjoy the unrivalled tranquility offered by their surroundings.

Take a look at our selection of holiday cottages in Aberdeenshire to find your perfect retreat.

Historic accommodation, set in tranquil location

Delgatie Castle sits peacefully amid fields and forests, on a large country estate. It has a long and chequered history, dating back from 1050 and was once home to the late Captain Hay - a feudal baron. Now open to the public, the castle provides a wealth of interest for visitors, plus the opportunity to sample delicious home baking in the cosy tea room. The properties on offer here have been tastefully renovated and refurbished to provide spacious holiday accommodation; which still retains much individual character. Ashwood and Elmwood are two of the four cottages, which form The Coach House; whilst the elegant Symbister Suite, located in the north wing of the castle, has, as you would expect, all the style and ambience of a real stately home - master bedroom. The ground floor of Elmwood (B4272) has been adapted for guests with disabilities, and also has a classification for unassisted wheelchair access. Turriff (3 miles) is home to a host of activities and interests. River fishing, with brown trout and salmon both available at cost. You can play golf on any of the several 18-hole courses in the area, or enjoy some time on a boating lake or even a putting green. Alternatively, play tennis, bowls, or go riding or shooting. Try the indoor sports and swimming pool complex. Nearby there are stately homes and castles to explore, museums and heritage centres, picturesque coastal villages, nature reserves and colourful parks, as well as famous distilleries. Advance grocery service available on request.

Ground floor: Living room. Dining room/kitchen. 1 double bedroom. Shower room with toilet. First floor: 3 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin, 1 single. Bathroom with toilet.

Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi.
