Banff has a long and fascinating history, which today is exemplified by the many historic buildings that can be found throughout the town. One such building is the magnificent Georgian built, Duff House, which is now home to some of the most prized pieces of art in the whole of Scotland. The truly stunning garden setting in which Duff House is situated is also well worth seeing.

In easy reach of Banff, just across the River Deveron, is the former spa town of Macduff with its bustling, pretty harbour. One of the most popular attractions in Macduff is the Marine Aquarium, which has a huge open air tank as its centrepiece.

The natural beauty of the landscape around the town makes it a great choice for those who enjoy walking and cycling. There are many wonderful coastal and country routes available throughout the area, perhaps none better than the walk that which takes in the quaint fishermen's cottages of Scotstown before reaching its beach destination at the Banff Links, where dolphins can often be spotted not too far offshore.

Delgatie Castle sits peacefully amid fields and forests, on a large country estate.
