Clomantagh Castle Ref: W32133

For a truly unique holiday experience, stay at Clomantagh Castle, a medieval tower house built in 1550, attached to a Victorian farmhouse built in the early 1800s. It is a very special place to stay, where the past echoes in every footstep as you walk through the tower house and attached farmhouse, linked by doors and allowing guests to wander freely between two periods of history. This detached, historic holiday property lies in a rural spot, yet it is just 13 miles away from the medieval city of Kilkenny and a 5-minute drive from the attractive town of Freshford. Cashel is a 20-minute drive away and 1½ hours away from Cork and Dubiln. Offering a mix of simplicity and rustic charm, Clomantagh Castle also features a Sheela-na-gig - a symbolic pagan nude carved on one of the stones and for the true romantic, a medieval turret stone staircase leading up to the master bedroom. This property is of outstanding importance, because of the collection of buildings spanning the period from the 12th to the 18th century. Clomantagh includes a 12th century parish church, an early 15th century tower house, an almost intact boundary or bawn wall with a medieval dovecote, and a 19th century farmhouse. Shop and pub ½ mile, restaurant 3½ miles.

Ground floor: Living room with wooden floor. Dining room/kitchen with beams and flagstone floor. 1 double bedroom. Shower room with toilet. Narrow, spiral stone staircase to first floor: 1 double (four poster) bedroom. Second staircase to first floor: 3 bedrooms: 2 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with roll-top bath and toilet. Bathroom with toilet.
