This lovely elegant house has been tastefully restored and is an ideal base for exploring the history and attractions of Cotentin. It has a large lawned garden which children will love, while the interior of the house is spacious and has some pieces of charming antique furniture, notably the original Norman wardrobes.

The long sandy beach at Créances (9km), where you can glimpse the islands of Jersey and Saint Germain-Sur-Ay on the horizon, is perfect for long evening walks or exploring the wild footpaths through the sand dunes. Other interesting towns include Portbail, an ancient fishing port (17 km) and Barneville-Carteret (24km), a seaside resort with cliff top walks. In the summer these towns host fairs and ’vide-greniers’ offering a vast range of items for sale making them good places to pick up antiques and collectables at a reasonable price.

The town of Lessay is renowned for its wonderful Norman Abbey dating from the time of William the Conquerer and for its annual ’Foire de Sainte Croix’, a trade fair which attracts nearly half a million visitors every September. For sporting enthusiasts, there is a gliding centre in Lessay and a golf course (23km).
