Places to visit in the surrounding area include Portiragnes, the Canal du Midi, Agde with its monuments and its spa, Sète or Carcassonne. Valras-Plage is a 5-minute drive.

Outdoor swimming pool

This traditional stone house makes a superb spacious holiday home. It is situated in the midst of an olive grove with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. The enclosed swimming pool (open May to September) and the beautiful grounds are not overlooked so this is an excellent base if you are looking for a peaceful holiday. The property is suitable for two families wishing to holiday together: there are two well equipped kitchens, two lounges and the two parts of the house are separately accessed from the outside.

Nearby are the superb Gorges of the Ardèche where you can go canoeing and kayaking, and the Cévennes mountains which are excellent for those who enjoy walking or cycling. There is also fishing available (5km).

For those who enjoy exploring local culture and history the town of St Ambroix (8km) is worth a visit for its excellent weekly market and attractive medieval quarter. The medieval town of Joyeuse (26km) with its narrow cobbled streets and pretty shops around the market square is also worth a visit.

Ideal touring base

These terraced holiday properties are situated on a complex and all have air conditioning and their own outdoor swimming pools (except ref FLH152 which has a hot tub). The complex is located in the town of Castries which has a 17th-century aqueduct. The city of Montpellier is just 16km and has many attractions, including the Place de la Comédie, a botanical garden, 14th-century cathedral, zoo, aquarium and Amazonian greenhouse.

The popular seaside resort of La Grande-Motte is 32km away, with its beaches, port, water park and watersports.
