Set peacefully in the heart of the Périgord Noir, equidistant from Montignac and Sarlat, these three picturesque cottages are situated around a charming courtyard with a spacious covered terrace that includes the old village bread oven. The extensive grounds with far reaching views to the north and west include a fenced swimming pool with terrace where you can relax in the sunshine. Each of the three cottages also has its own independent garden terrace where meals can be enjoyed al-fresco. There is a communal indoor games room with ping-pong, table football, darts and small snooker table. The English owners live on the opposite side of this country lane and are on hand to offer advice and help when necessary. Visitors are free to wander in the owners’ five acres of wooded grounds where they can see the pet goats, chickens and wildlife. Fresh seasonal garden produce is also available. The cottages have modern facilities combined with traditional features, carpeted bedrooms and have been restored to a good standard. The charming old riverside town of Montignac, famous for its caves at Lascaux II, is just five minutes’ drive away and offers opportunities for canoe hire on the River Vézère, Wednesday market and riverside bars and restaurants. In the other direction lies the popular medieval town of Sarlat with its exceptional heritage with the most registered classified buildings per square mile in Europe, winding streets, summer festivals and famous twice-weekly market. Opportunities for tasting local produce at one of the many restaurants or ferme auberges are endless.

The discreet English owner lives in the grounds. The historic bustling bastide town of Eymet is close by with a weekly market, cafes, bars and restaurants. The charming bastide towns of Duras and Monségur are within a short drive and also have colourful weekly markets.

Nearby Bergerac straddles the River Dordogne and is the largest town in the Périgord Pourpre département, an area that derives its name from the purple grapes that grow in the region’s 125 sq km of vineyards. The most famous wines are the sweet whites produced around Monbazillac with château open to the public.

The old city and harbour retain their charm making Bergerac a good place to spend a day exploring. There are opportunities for cycling, walking, and wine tasting and canoeing in the area and for sampling the regions delicious local produce at one of the many local restaurants.

This part of the Dordogne is one of the most sought after locations; the medieval town of Sarlat, the châteaux of Beynac and Castelnaud, and many of the attractions of the Dordogne Valley are all within 30km. One of the region’s most popular golf courses is a short drive, approximately 2km away.
