The Auvergne home to the largest national park in France, the Parc Naturel Regional des Volcans d'Auvergne has a landscape of extinct volcanoes, thick forest, rivers, lakes and mountains. Our villas in the Corrèze make a great base for exploring this region with many outdoor pursuits such as fishing, walking, canoeing and hang-gliding. Swimmimg can be found at the lake at Bort Les Orgues. Visit Clermont Ferrand and you must go to the top of the Puy de Dôme which dominates for miles and is accessible by road or by bus at busy times. The view from the top is staggering and when conditions are good, Mont Blanc may be visible to the east and you can see way down the Massif Central to the Cantal mountains. You also get a bird's-eye view of the other volcanic summits to the north and south, including the 100-metre-deep crater of the Puy de Pariou. The Monts Dore are about 50km southwest of Clermont and are much more rugged and mountainous the neighbouring, the Monts-Dômes. The valley of the River Dordogne rises on the slopes of the Puy de Sancy, the highest point in the Massif Central, just above the little town of Le Mont-Dore. Although this is one of the poorest regions in France, it does produce famous cheeses like bleu d'Auvergne and Cantal.

Langeac is a lively riverside town in the southern Auvergne, beautifully surrounded by woodlands and vineyards. Locally try one of the many sporting activities like rafting, kayaking, mountain biking and horse riding, or visit the Romanesque abbeys, castles and lace-making centres of the region. The whole of the Haute-Loire area boasts wonderful rivers for salmon and trout fishing. The advantage of this property is its proximity to both the River Allier and the town centre. It is an oasis of calm with its beautiful mature walled garden and solar-heated swimming pool with its wave making machine. This is an independent wing of the owner’s property, with a lovely large terrace, with fishpond and fountain. Here, as at the pool, there is generous garden furniture.
