Find cottages in MukerVisit Muker

The pretty little village of Muker is situated in stunning Swaledale high in the Northern Dales, with Kisden Hill behind, and the River Swale running alongside, it truly is the archetypal Dales village, surrounded by some of the most stunning natural beauty in the whole of the Yorkshire Dales.

In times gone past Muker was a prosperous agricultural hub, today it is a thriving, but peaceful, holiday destination, particularly popular with walkers looking to explore Yorkshire by foot. Nature lovers will delight in the massive variety of flora and fauna in the area which is in large part due to the mostly organic farming methods used by the local farmers.

The heart of the village is undoubtedly The Farmers Arms. The perfect place to sip local ale, or enjoy a home cooked meal, this thriving local pub also benefits from a terrace with panoramic views over the local countryside. Traditional Yorkshire baked goods are served in the charming local tea shop, located in what was once the vicarage. The village has a useful shop selling all the essentials, and a wool shop that has a variety of local crafts for sale.

There is plenty to do for all the family in the surrounding area. In Hawes the Dales Countryside Museum gives a fascinating insight into the history of the Yorkshire Dales, including some great interactive exhibits that will fire the imagination of children of all ages. Nearby Bolton Castle offers a host of fun activities and keen equestrians can follow a variety of scenic trails on horseback that start from the popular Stone Trial Riding Centre. The brave at heart should head to the Forbidden Corner, an amazing folly that is full of thrilling secrets to uncover (need to book in advance).

Come and appreciate all that the Yorkshire Dales has to offer; search holiday cottages in Muker today.
