A highlight in the town calendar is the weekly street market, where you will find a fantastic range of gift and food stalls, including ones that sell the town's speciality, delicious Wensleydale cheese; the Wensleydale Creamery is close by and a popular visitor attraction.

Several streets of quirky shops and boutiques provide the perfect place to browse for gifts and souvenirs, and there is no shortage of fabulous cafes and restaurants, serving everything from traditional Yorkshire cakes and biscuits to exquisite three course meals.

A trip to Bolton Castle is a must for families and offers a packed activity schedule incorporates everything from bird of prey demonstrations to a chance to take part in traditional craft making. If you have an interest in the history of the area, make sure you pop down to the Dales Countryside Museum, where you will be fascinated by a variety of thoughtful, interactive displays that tell the fascinating story of the local landscape and the people that inhabit it.

The lounge enjoys the added benefit of a multi-fuel stove to keep out the chill on those cooler winter evenings, and the views could be described as nothing less than magnificent, as they capture the true spirit of the rolling hills of Wensleydale.  There are patio doors from the lounge leading to a small balcony, ideal for enjoying the ambience of the fresh Wensleydale air.
High House offers the best of both worlds.  All the amenities are on the doorstep, yet open the patio doors from the lounge, and you are greeted by the grandeur of unspoilt Wensleydale countryside.

Longdale Cottage is believed to be a former gamekeepers cottage on the shooting estate of William Grenfell 1st Baron Desborough. The cottage is situated in beautiful Raydale, a secluded and unspoilt sidedale off Wensleydale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is surrounded by traditional farming country and ringed by high fells. In the distance the dramatic peak of Addleborough can be seen and Semerwater, with its beach for swimming off, is a pleasant walk away. It is handy for many of the areas famous attractions, including the bustling little market town of Hawes, Semerwater and the pretty villages of Bainbridge and Askrigg, with its pub which was used as the local in the James Herriott series All Creatures Great & Small. Raydale is a haven for wildlife, hares and deer are often sighted in the surrounding fields at dawn and dusk, along with a wide variety of upland bird life including grouse, partridge, curlew and plovers.

Ground Stones has an adjoining cottage (Roof Stones 218013) that sleeps six - perfect for larger families, offering privacy with en suite facilities to the master rooms. They can be booked together to accommodate 14 guests. Each cottage overlooks a private rock garden with the facility of a fully enclosed south facing garden, complete with fruit trees, barbecue and a charming arbour bench! There is also a games room with pool table, darts and board games.
Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Ground Stones overlooks Wensleydale fells, moors, the River Ure and the unspoilt countryside between. Nestled on the outskirts of the bustling market town of Hawes, only a 6 minute walk, with its county-renowned deli, the famous Wensleydale Creamery, Ropemakers Centre, restaurants, five pubs, tea rooms, bistro, clothes shops and lovely gift shops. The cottage has retained many character features, has lovely Yorkshire flagstones flooring and is furnished and decorated to a high standard.
