The cathedral city of Ripon and Skipton with its medieval castle are also worthy of a visit. Good fishing is available on the nearby River Ure is also available by day ticket from the local Angling Association; you can even purchase your free-range eggs from the owner’s flock of varied breeds housed nearby.

Dating back to the 17th century, this period house was home to the last act of private and domestic warfare in England, possession of the house was fought over by Sir Thomas Metcalfe, known as the Black Knight of Nappa and Mrs Robinson. Thankfully the house now nestles in serenity amongst some of the prettiest scenery to be found in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, within a working farm environment and shooting estate. Set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Dentdale is the smallest and probably the loveliest dale with pretty riverside walks and country lanes. Clarks Cottage has footpaths leading to the hills and fells from the doorstep, and the Three Peaks are nearby for the more adventurous.
