Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Ground Stones overlooks Wensleydale fells, moors, the River Ure and the unspoilt countryside between. Nestled on the outskirts of the bustling market town of Hawes, only a 6 minute walk, with its county-renowned deli, the famous Wensleydale Creamery, Ropemakers Centre, restaurants, five pubs, tea rooms, bistro, clothes shops and lovely gift shops. Scalegill is also barely a mile from Malham which you can visit on the classic 6-mile walk from the mill to the well known beauty spot of Malham Cove. From the top of this you are rewarded with stunning views across the valley before continuing to the awe-inspiring waterfall at Gordale Scar, and then Janet’s Foss, before returning via the Pennine Way. With numerous other walks from the door some visitors never use their cars at all during their stay.
Birdlife is prolific. Dippers nest under the building, heron fish in the river, curlews and oyster catchers fly overhead, and many garden birds use the feeder attached to the living room window.
The apartment, which sleeps two, is well equipped and comfortably furnished, with an attractive gas burning stove in the sitting room, perfect for cozying up to after a day out walking or sightseeing.
