From your cottage there's easy access to Coventry's Transport Museum; it houses the largest collection of British transport in the World, and the best bit? Admission is free! If the weather's fine, a visit to Twycross Zoo is fun for kids of all ages. For a show with a difference, you could even book to go to an outdoor theatre evening hosted at the zoo.
