Warwick's historical status means there's no shortage of heritage attractions here including of course its famous castle. Allow a full day when you visit as there a lot to see and do; the Castle has over a thousand years of fascinating history including blood, battle and siege, intrigue and politics, playing a central role in England's history. There's also a busy calendar of events and lots for both adults and children to enjoy.

The city lies on the banks of the River Avon and blends the old with the new. You'll find some great examples of medieval architecture, plenty of independent shops and boutiques, antiques centres, traditional tea rooms, art galleries and restaurants.

There are some lovely parks and gardens within easy walking distance of the city centre, including Charlecote Park which has one of the finest Tudor houses and landscape parks in the UK and The Mill Garden, which lies beneath Warwick Castle, beside the lovely River Avon, and combines incredible views with fantastic plantings. You'll find fun and relaxation for all the family at St Nicholas Park including play areas, rides, miniature golf and boating.

Other places of historical interest are St. John's Museum, a Jacobean mansion that houses Victorian reconstructions and Collegiate Church of St. Mary's which is famous for its Beauchamp chapel and medieval tombs and is also the place where the writer J. R. R. Tolkien was married.
