Didworthy Country House is a most elegant Victorian country house nestling within the Dartmoor National Park in the hamlet of Didworthy, close to the village of South Brent. These three holiday properties (ref’s: 27597, 27598 and 27599) form part of the main house and are positioned around an inner courtyard planted with clematis and pretty colourful plants. All guests have shared use of the owners’ fabulous outdoor heated swimming pool (available July/Aug, 10am to 6pm) and access to the lovely garden complete with patio areas and summerhouse with barbecue. From the pool patio the views are quite lovely and the moors are just a short walk. Many outdoor activities can be organised whilst you holiday here, including horse riding, shooting and fishing. These properties are perfect for those couples and families who are looking for a completely tranquil location in the countryside, and those who love the outdoors will thoroughly enjoy holidaying here. Following the River Avon upstream will take you over Shipley Bridge and up on the moors to the Avon Dam which is a wonderful scenic walk or you could take your bikes and cycle the route. Dating back to the 13th century these charming holiday cottages occupy a peaceful location, and command views over the owners’ 250-acre working Charolais beef farm, bordered by the River Teign on the edge of the village of Teigngrace. This lovely and popular part of South Devon has much to offer with glorious beaches, meandering estuaries and some very pretty countryside. Also within easy striking distance is the rugged expanse of Dartmoor, its wild beauty changing colour with the varying seasons, its picturesque villages, Dartmoor ponies and Tors. Walnut Cottage (ref 26729) and Oakapple Cottage (ref 26721) are barn conversions offering comfortable holiday accommodation. Acorn Cottage (ref 25544) and Oak Leaves (ref 25560) were originally farm buildings and have since been carefully converted into two spacious and very comfortable holiday cottages. Side by side each has its own patio. The Farmhouse (ref 25545) was the original farmhouse since 1640 and this now has been tastefully converted for use as a holiday cottage. Barnyard Cottage (ref 25546) is the original building, built in the 13th century and was in later years the kitchen for the farmhouse; now it has been tastefully converted to form a very comfortable holiday home. The owners will be delighted to show children around the farm and are always on hand to tell guests of the many attractions this lovely area has to offer. Twelve Oaks is an ideal location for those who want to leave behind the strains of city living and relax in a peaceful rural setting. Wander along pretty streams, explore rambling woods, and trek over undulating hills. There are so many attractions close by including Go Ape or cycling in nearby Haldon Hill, Crealy Adventure Park and Woodlands all within a 25 mile radius. Closer to home, visit Paignton Zoo, Model Village at Babbacombe or the cliff railway. There are some very nice sandy beaches in Paignton, Dawlish, and Goodrington. Tresooth Cottages are the perfect Cornish holiday destination, situated a mile from the quaint village of Mawnan Smith and just 3 miles from the sea faring town and port of Falmouth, with busy marinas, harbours and a stunning array of restaurants, cafes and shops. There are small ferry services, with trips to nearby St Mawes and Flushing, plus a ’Park and Float’ service. The National Maritime Museum, Events Square and Pendennis Castle are open to the public daily with activities throughout the year. The area has many beautiful sub-tropical gardens including Trebah, Glendurgan and Trelissick. With some of Cornwall’s finest family friendly beaches including Gylingvase, Swanpool and Maenporth cove, all with bathing and gorgeous sandy beaches. Water sports, diving, sailing and golf are all nearby. Tresooth is close to the picturesque Helford River, with creeks and breath-taking coastal walks. The area is best explored by boat, daily trips are available from Falmouth, with the famous Ferry Boat Inn, small beach and gorgeous walks. The lovely garden makes a perfect setting in which to relax at the end of the day, and from here there is ease of access to the popular Jurassic Way footpath, providing excellent walking.
Swallow Barn is in an ideal holiday location to explore and enjoy the many places of interest and great scenic beauty in this area of England. The quaint and often unchanged market towns and villages of the Cotswold Hills are full of charm; there are many fine houses and gardens to visit, a superb Wildlife Park at Burford, several farm parks and Blenheim Palace at Woodstock. The elegant university city of Oxford has world famous museums and art galleries, and punts can be hired for an afternoon on the River Cherwell. A visit to Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon should not be missed. A guided sightseeing tour is available taking in all the memorable and historic houses and churches including the two great theatres where the Bard’s plays are performed.
The lesser-known picturesque villages of Northamptonshire include Ashby St Ledger - the home of Guy Fawkes (not open to the public), and Althorp, the resting place of Diana, Princess of Wales. The Silverstone Racing Circuit and Gaydon Motor Museum add further interest. Shop 2 miles.
