Find cottages in SussexVisit Sussex

Home to the most beautiful coast and countryside; Sussex is the perfect holiday escape whether you want a relaxing short break or action-packed adventure.

Walkers and cyclists will enjoy Sussex. This is great walking country or you could grab a bike and take to the network of quiet country roads. A boat trip is another great way to enjoy the scenery from a different aspect, take a leisurely cruise from Eastbourne to the lighthouse and discover a tranquil place to breathe.

You'll find holiday cottages located within easy reach of all the region's well known attractions and beauty spots both inland and at the coast and there's an abundance of Blue Flag awarded beaches scattered along the coast. For a really atmospheric look at the coastline head to Beachy Head with its dramatic chalk cliffs, and make the time to stroll through one of the picturesque fishing harbours dotted around to pick up unique souvenirs and fresh seafood.

Places of interest of course include the vibrant coastal towns of Brighton, with its famous pier, Eastbourne and Bognor Regis as well as the delightful spa town of Tunbridge Wells (actually just over the Kent border) and lovely market towns like Horsham and historic Lewes.

If there's one thing you can't escape in Sussex, its history and the famous battle site of 1066 in Hastings holds a wealth of it, and offers a family friendly day out to explore one of history's most important events. Similarly Arundel Castle could also be on your agenda; it sits majestically above the roof tops of the town below and is bursting at the seams with stories and relics.

For family fun, visit one of the county's many animal parks; Drusillas Park at Alfriston is a paradise of small exotic animals or there's the Ashdown Forest Llama Park, home to more than 100 llamas and Fishers Farm Park is great for getting the younger ones moving. The Blue Reef Aquarium at Hastings and Brighton Sealife Centre are the ultimate way to experience underworld treasures without getting your feet wet.

Be inspired by the birthplace of modern England, and come and see for yourself why so many people choose to holiday in Sussex. Take a look at our selection of holiday cottages in Sussex today.

The Oast Ref: 30316

In the midst of 1066 countryside and in a farm setting with glorious rural views across rolling fields (AONB), is The Oast. it was originally used for ’kilning’ – or drying hops in the beer making process: the hops were spread out and dried by hot air produced from a charcoal fired kiln. The heat would escape through a cowl in the roof which turned with the wind. The Oast has been thoughtfully restored and is a cosy, detached, holiday base with a woodburner, from which you can explore the surrounding area. Visit Battle with its abbey, and see the site that changed the course of British history, where you can walk in the steps of King Harold and William the Conqueror. Hastings, with its iconic net huts and smuggling haunts, Rye used as the film set for the dramatisation of E F Benson’s novel Mapp & Lucia, and Tenterden – The Jewel of the Weald - are all within a short drive. An excellent area renowned for award-winning wines - try some tastings at Sedlescombe Vineyard, Carr Taylor and Chapel Down. For garden enthusiasts, visit Sissinghurst and Scotney Castle. Take a trip on the Kent and East Sussex steam railway to the fairytale moated Bodiam Castle. Beach 10 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Ground floor: Step to living/dining room/kitchen with wooden floor. Open sided stairs to first floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 single. Bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and toilet.

Woodburner in dining room (initial fuel included). Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine.
