Walkers and cyclists will enjoy Sussex. This is great walking country or you could grab a bike and take to the network of quiet country roads. A boat trip is another great way to enjoy the scenery from a different aspect, take a leisurely cruise from Eastbourne to the lighthouse and discover a tranquil place to breathe.

You'll find holiday cottages located within easy reach of all the region's well known attractions and beauty spots both inland and at the coast and there's an abundance of Blue Flag awarded beaches scattered along the coast. For a really atmospheric look at the coastline head to Beachy Head with its dramatic chalk cliffs, and make the time to stroll through one of the picturesque fishing harbours dotted around to pick up unique souvenirs and fresh seafood.

Places of interest of course include the vibrant coastal towns of Brighton, with its famous pier, Eastbourne and Bognor Regis as well as the delightful spa town of Tunbridge Wells (actually just over the Kent border) and lovely market towns like Horsham and historic Lewes.

For family fun, visit one of the county's many animal parks; Drusillas Park at Alfriston is a paradise of small exotic animals or there's the Ashdown Forest Llama Park, home to more than 100 llamas and Fishers Farm Park is great for getting the younger ones moving. Situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Kirdford, it is less than five minutes’ walk to the popular pubs, serving good food. The property has nearby access to an extensive network of footpaths, leading to this unspoilt part of the low weald, a haven for birds and wildlife.
The quaint town of Petworth is 4 miles away, with its plentiful antique shops, beautiful stately home and Capability Brown park, where live music concerts and outdoor theatre can be enjoyed during the summer months. The charming small town of Midhurst, famous for Polo at Cowdray Park is also a short drive, as are Billingshurst, Haslemere and Guildford. Goodwood, with its motor and horse racing, Fontwell races, Leonardslee, West Dean Gardens, Parham House, The Weald and Downbland open air museum and the South Downs are all within easy driving distance. Beautifully presented throughout, this splendid Grade II listed Regency town house offers wonderful views to historical Arundel Castle, which is only 50 yards away. Located in the heart of this quaint town, it is only a 2-minute walk from plentiful antique shops, pubs, restaurants, cathedral and lido, and near the Wildfowl and Wetlands for birdwatching. In keeping with the Regency era, the furnishings cleverly complement the period style, and are carefully co-ordinated and styled to enhance features such as the ornamental fire surrounds and large windows. The holiday accommodation is spacious, set over four floors, and with families in mind, there is a games room on the lower ground floor. Arundel is recognised for its castle and variety of historic buildings in a small area. Out of around 500 buildings in the conservation area, many are listed. The beautiful castle is referred to in the Domesday Book in 1086, and has been occupied by the Dukes of Norfolk and their families for over 850 years. The Victorian Catholic Cathedral was designed by Joseph Hansom, who also designed the Hansom cab.
Climping Beach is only a 5-minute drive, or slightly further, Worthing, Elmer or Littlehampton. Bustling Brighton is within 20 minutes’ drive, within the ornate Royal Pavilion, The Lanes for interesting artefacts, plentiful theatres, art galleries, extensive shopping, the marina with harbourside dining, and many amusements for all ages along the beach. Visit Chichester, with its beautiful ornate cathedral, theatre, pedestrianised shopping, tea rooms, harbour tours, Goodwood or Fontwell racing. Also within easy reach is the picturesque harbour village of Bosham with antiques, emporium and waterside cafe, or naval Portsmouth with Spinnaker Tower, designer shopping and waterside dining. This beautiful and skilfully converted pair of barns is situated within just 5 minutes’ drive of historic Chichester with its ornate cathedral, festival theatre, pedestrianised cobbled lanes, tea rooms, restaurants and extensive shopping, and within about 20 minutes’ drive of the popular sandy seaside resort of West Wittering.
The Old Barn Retreat (ref PJJL) is an ideal retreat for couples, and is presented throughout to a very high specification. The open-plan studio area has been thoughtfully styled and co-ordinated, and makes a comfortable holiday destination with added features such as the stable door and jet-spa shower.
The Old Barn (ref PRRC) offers extremely spacious and tastefully-styled holiday living, with much character. The beautifully-finished kitchen has bespoke fitted oak units, and a stunning travertine tiled floor with feature mosaics. The large, airy, open-plan living area has plenty of windows to maximise the light, and there are brickwork arches leading to the kitchen and dining area. All of the bedrooms have been carefully co-ordinated, and the two largest bedrooms on the first floor have feature high, vaulted ceilings and beams, both with en-suites incorporating Jacuzzi baths and shower cubicles with huge shower heads.
