The market town of Arundel is situated in leafy West Sussex, a stone's throw from the Sussex coast and filled with stylish art galleries, independent shops and plenty of chic restaurants and bars.

You'll find an abundance of shops in the stylish town centre, from craft and gift shops to tiny delis selling delicious local produce and boutiques shops. Dining in Arundel is an eclectic mix of cosy gastro pubs, quaint tearooms, independent restaurants as well as more well-known high street names and traditional family-run establishments; most are happy to cater for children.

If you're travelling with the family, the magnificent Arundel Castle is open from April to October and makes a great choice for a family day out. The kids will love letting off steam in the gardens, or look out for the seasonal program of fun events, including civil war re-enactments and the annual MG Owners' Club Gathering. This charming, detached 16th-century cottage is steeped in character, boasting stunning beamwork, huge inglenooks with open fires, part wood/part flagstone floor and Victorian-style bathroom. Overlooking open countryside to the rear, Pound Cottage has its own large, well screened garden and terrace - ideal for barbecues - as well as an enclosed kitchen garden. Situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Kirdford, it is less than five minutes’ walk to the popular pubs, serving good food. The property has nearby access to an extensive network of footpaths, leading to this unspoilt part of the low weald, a haven for birds and wildlife.
The quaint town of Petworth is 4 miles away, with its plentiful antique shops, beautiful stately home and Capability Brown park, where live music concerts and outdoor theatre can be enjoyed during the summer months. The charming small town of Midhurst, famous for Polo at Cowdray Park is also a short drive, as are Billingshurst, Haslemere and Guildford. Goodwood, with its motor and horse racing, Fontwell races, Leonardslee, West Dean Gardens, Parham House, The Weald and Downbland open air museum and the South Downs are all within easy driving distance. Chichester has an ancient cathedral, tea rooms, extensive shopping, festival theatre and harbour tours, or alternatively Arundel also has a castle and Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. The Witterings and other beaches are half an hour’s drive, and numerous golf courses are within easy reach. Shops 4 miles, pub ¼ mile.
