Just half a mile from the nearest beach and a 15-minute stroll to Brixham town, Hurst Stone East Cottage was built around the 15th century and retains many of the original features, including beams, window seats, an open fire and two staircases, with an east wing and west wing. This semi-detached, thatched holiday property is ideal for families to holiday together, whether its a family summer holiday near the coast or a cosy winter break when the town is much quieter. Brixham is an old fishing port and has numerous seafood restaurants. Take a boat trip over to Torquay and visit the theatre, or explore Living Coasts, where penguins wander freely. Brixham forms the third part of Torbay, the other parts being Torquay and Paignton. The bay is known as the English Riviera because of its unique micro-climate, and Brixham shares this mild climate. South Devon’s two cities are Exeter and Plymouth, both are within easy driving distance, approximately 30 miles, and offer their own tourist attractions, historical buildings and shops. Dartmoor is breathtakingly beautiful, at once romantic, mysterious, wild and eerie. Visit the tourist spots, or experienced walkers and navigators can explore the depths of Dartmoor. See wild Dartmoor ponies, cross ancient stone bridges spanning the clear, bubbling waters of the river Dart and other rivers, and feel the somewhat eerie presence of the Tors, seven rocky hills which preside majestically over the moors.
