At the base of the Tor lie the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey, set in 36 acres of beautiful parkland and ponds it's the perfect destination for a family day out. There's an abundance of historical places in the region so take the time to explore as many as possible, especially Wells Cathedral and the Roman Baths and its museum.

If you can tear yourself away from exploring Somerset's past there's a lot more to explore. Longleat Safari Park is just one of the many animal attractions in the area, but you can also get up close and personal with magnificent shire horses birds of prey and marine life.

The Tudor part of the beautiful former vicarage has been renovated whilst retaining original character, to provide spacious holiday accommodation close to the coastal regions of West Somerset. The Gatehouse is an attractive two storey holiday home which is within the Rossholme grounds. The cottages are situated in 5 acres of lawns and landscaped gardens, with shared use of a hard tennis court and outdoor heated swimming pool during the summer months. Each property has a barbecue area and views over open countryside. A function room seating 60 is available on site by prior arrangement with the owner, and catering can be arranged. East Brent lies at the foot of Brent Knoll, a 450ft high hill that has the remains of an ancient Celtic camp on its summit with views of the Quantocks, Bridgwater Bay, the Bristol Channel, the Mendips and South Wales. With easy access to the M5, the village is only minutes from the coast; Weston-Super-Mare and Sand Bay have sandy beaches and family attractions, whilst the smaller resorts of Clevedon and Burnham on Sea retain an atmosphere of a bygone era. Axbridge is 5 miles, and the caves and gorge at Cheddar, 6 miles. For walking and cycling, the Quantocks, the Mendips, the Somerset Levels and Exmoor are close by. Shop 1 mile, pub 600 yards.

This holiday cottage is well located with access to the beach and close to all amenities in the town centre. Burnham-on-Sea is excellent for a family holiday, it has 7 miles of sandy beach ideal for kite flying, sand yachting or just relaxing and making sandcastles. Joining the sand dunes up to Brean Down to the north, overlooking Bridgewater Bay and out to the Bristol Channel, it also has a long promenade with amusements, donkey rides and its own mini pier. Renowned for its many lighthouses dotted around the town and many fishing and boat trips that are available. During November, the area is renowned for its winter carnivals, with spectacular illuminated floats dazzling through the towns and villages. Visit the nature haven of Stert Island or the restored Napoleonic Fort, walk up Brent Knoll for the panoramic views of the Mendip and Quantock Hills, Glastonbury Tor and Cheddar Gorge. Nearby is the Victorian seaside resort of Weston-Super-Mare and Clevedon, the historic city of Wells, Cheddar the home of the world famous cheese, caves and gorge, and Wookey Hole Caves and papermill are worth a day out.
