Find cottages in BathVisit Bath

The historic city of Bath that has provided the backdrop for many films; a fantastic mix of 18th century architecture, contemporary shops and fine restaurants.

From museums and manor houses to hot springs and safari parks, Bath has something for everyone. Famous for its architecture, Bath's beautiful crescents, squares and parades helped it gain the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Royal Crescent is one of the most famous streetscapes in Europe and 'No 1 Royal Crescent' has been furnished to show the type of lodgings that fashionable Georgian visitors would have taken. A cottage holiday here offers easy access to shops, theatres, museums, galleries and, of course, the city's famous Roman Baths.

There's plenty to explore nearby too, why not take the family to Longleat Safari Park or you could visit Dyrham Park, an elegant mansion set in an expansive deer park. You might even pack a picnic and head for Stone Henge.

In and around Bath you'll recognise a myriad of filming locations. Pop into the tourist information centre and pick up a 'movie map' to see where they filmed Jane Austin's Persuasion, Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince, The Duchess and Vanity Fair to name just a few. There are plenty of ways to explore Bath; walk, cycle, hop on an open-top bus, book a chauffeur-driven trike or take to the skies in a hot air balloon. However you choose to get around, there's plenty to see.

This spectacular accommodation was constructed in 1821 as the brewing hall of a former brewery supplying around 14 pubs in Freshford, of which only one remains today. The Brewery ceased production in the 1890s and tragically fell into disrepair for the next 60 years. It then had a diverse range of uses in the 20th century from a paper store to an air raid shelter for the local school during WWII. In the 1970s Jeremy Fry, of Fry’s Turkish Delight fame, came to the rescue and converted it into a private home. Princess Margaret was a good friend of Jeremy Fry and visited the brewery regularly, bringing with her a highly visible police presence, as well as tending the gardens – she even left impressions from her high heels on the leather floor! During this time The Vaults was used as a wheelchair factory business established by Jeremy Fry and his good friend Lord Snowdon. It has since been transformed into a unique listed property providing spacious holiday accommodation for up to 4 guests. There is a sleeping area at each end of the huge living space and original features, such as the magnificent stone barrel-vaulted ceiling and natural stone walls have been retained, yet it exudes a modern ambience and is beautifully furnished throughout.
Its glorious architecture, central village location and added luxury of a 5ft four-poster bed make this property one not to be missed. Freshford village lies in the heart of a conservation area in an AONB and is within walking distance of the medieval church and village pub, which hosts events throughout the year. Boasting some fascinating Georgian architecture as well as beautiful canal and riverside walks, Freshford makes a perfect base for your holiday in Somerset. The railway station in the village serves Bradford-on-Avon as well as other towns and villages including the Georgian World Heritage city of Bath just 6 miles away. Bath will keep you busy all day with its grand cathedral, Roman Baths and Pump Rooms, shops and museums; or why not relax and pamper yourself at the Thermae Spa? Golf and horse riding can also be found locally. Village shop ¼ mile.

Spacious living/dining room with vaulted ceiling. Modern fitted kitchen. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. 6 steps up to bedroom area with 5ft four-poster bed. Galleried twin bedroom.
