Find cottages in LudlowVisit Ludlow

Ludlow is one of England's most lovely towns, packed with historical buildings, set upon a cliff top location overlooking the River Teme.

Described by Sir John Betjeman as 'the loveliest town in England', Ludlow lives up to its billing with some 500 or so listed buildings, including many half-timbered and from the Georgian period. In fact 900 years of history are evident here going back to Norman times.

Ludlow Castle was constructed in the 11th century and has a fascinating past that has played a significant role in England's history; today it's the venue for open air theatre and festivals. Ludlow museum depicts the rich history of Ludlow, where you'll come face-to-face with tales of Bronze Age farmers and famous geologists. Other places of note are St Laurence's Church and the Feathers Hotel, with its world-famous timber facade.

There is lots of excellent walking and cycling opportunities right on the doorstep of your cottage, with walks leading out to forests and farmland, and the Shropshire Hills are only a short drive away.

If you fancy enjoying the great outdoors at a more relaxed pace though, head to Whitcliffe Common or Gallows Bank. The short walks and open expanses will appeal to everyone and offer a great free day out for the whole family.

A food lover's paradise, Ludlow boasts some of the finest restaurants in Britain. The area is awash with quality food and drink producers and you'll find a wide variety of establishments serving up quality, locally sourced food; from corner cafés to Michelin star restaurants.
