Causeway Barn Ref: 29756

Causeway Barn is one of ten Northumbrian stone and slate barn conversions at Heathery Tops Farm, a charming converted Victorian farm steading surrounded by tranquil fields to the south of the Elizabethan walled market town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. The barn, which has been awarded a VisitEngland 4 star Gold Award, has spacious and beautifully styled interiors characterised by large arched windows that benefit from an east/west orientation, this property is ideal for family parties or equally to 1 or 2 couples holidaying together. The barn is approached via a private drive originally created by the Romans and is known locally as, “The Causeway,” hence the name of the property. To the rear is an enclosed lawned garden, which benefits from sunshine from before noon to evening in summer and is wonderfully sheltered by the larger courtyard formation. Outside, swallows dart and deer, foxes and buzzards form part of an abundance of wildlife. In spring and summer, guests may enjoy watching cows and calves grazing in the fields, whilst the sun rises over the sea beyond, one mile away. Here, long stretches of deserted sandy beach and the Northumberland coast and Castle Cycle Route stretch southwards past Goswick Golf Course through the Lindisfarne Nature Reserve to Holy Island - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The Holy Island of Lindisfarne, ancient Northumbria’s capital Bamburgh and Seahouses, with boats to the Farne Islands, are all within a 30-minute drive. Alnwick Castle and Garden, Cragside, the first house in the world to be lit by hydroelectricity, and Craster, “the birthplace of the kipper” all within a 40-minute drive. Causeway Barn is located less than one mile off the A1 north/south main road and provides excellent access to all the coast and castles of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders, as well as Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city. Shops, pubs and restaurants 1½ miles.

Ground floor: Living room with French doors. Dining room/kitchen with French doors, tiled floors. Separate toilet. First floor: 2 double (one 6ft zip and link, can be twin) bedrooms, one (5ft) with roll-top bath, en-suite shower room with toilet. Bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and toilet.
