Norfolk has all the ingredients that make it one of the most ideal self-catering break destinations in the UK. Situated in the east of England it has a long coastline of clean sandy beaches and lovely seaside resorts, a rural countryside of heathland, forests and nature reserves extending across a gentle landscape which is just perfect of walkers and cyclists.

Norfolk is probably most famous for its Broads; which covers some 125 miles of lock-free man-made waterways that meander through the most beautiful countryside. The Broads is in fact a National Park of rivers and lakes, quiet walking paths and cycle trails, so you don't need a boat to enjoy this lovely part of the county. It's also the site of internationally important wetlands, which provide a vital habitat to many creatures.

North Norfolk has a spectacular coastline with long stretches of pristine sandy beaches, coastal villages and an interior of rolling hills, wildlife and pretty towns and villages. Much of the coastal area is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town of Cromer became a place where the Victorians and Edwardians came to holiday and the town's architecture reflects this with grand pier.

The historical city of Norwich is well worth a place on your holiday agenda; this modern city has strong links to the past with a Norman Cathedral, city castle, clock tower and medieval cobbled streets. It's easy to get around the city centre which has all the modern facilities you would expect including Europe's largest undercover market. Here there are also museums and theatres, old pubs and delightful riverside walks.

To the west visitors will find the wetlands of The Fens and more lovely sandy beaches. Kings Lynn is the principal town here and has a rich maritime history as a trading port due to its position on The Great River Ouse which flows into The Wash Estuary. The town's medieval heritage is portrayed by its cobbled streets and stunning buildings. Just along the coast is Hunstanton, a lovely seaside resort that's perfect for family seaside holidays.

The vast forest of The Brecks lie in the south of the region includes Thetford Forest; 20,000 acres forest with cycling, walking and horse riding trials – just perfect for great days out! Moving slightly east the country becomes one of quiet country lanes and sleepy villages, ancient abbeys, cosy tea rooms and old inns.

A very warm welcome awaits at the home of the Campbell family, Sedgeford Hall. Set in the heart of a 1200-acre farming and shooting estate in a beautiful north Norfolk valley, Sedgeford Hall offers a beautiful, secluded location in which to holiday, celebrate or entertain.
Sedgeford Hall, built of local sand-coloured brick was built in the reign of Queen Anne, and completed in 1713, with further additions throughout the centuries; it now includes a heated indoor swimming pool, open fires and wood-burning stoves for the colder winter months, beautiful enclosed gardens and numerous Estate walks, encompassing lakes, woods and parkland.
Visitors to Sedgeford Hall may wander around the expansive grounds at their leisure. Sedgeford is just a few miles from the coast, and close to splendid towns and villages such as Burnham Market and several stately homes - Houghton Hall, Holkham, Sandringham and Anmer Hall, home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George.
Just 5 miles to the north is the seaside town of Hunstanton with miles of sandy beaches and rock pools, majestic cliffs, a Sea Life Centre, amusements, watersports, tennis, croquet, bowls, golf, shops, restaurants and inns. Heacham, just 3 miles, has the benefit of Norfolk Lavender with garden centre, shops, café and farm shop. For children, there is the popular ‘Farmer Fred’s Play Barn’ the large indoor play centre with café as well as an animal petting zoo! Great Bircham is a 4-mile walk, and the Peddars Way and Icknield Way are also close by. Situated in rural Norfolk, ten miles from the Sandringham Estate, Ashwood Manor is set by the River Nar and offers both space and comfort, with several sporting activities on offer, and plenty of room to relax amid beautiful surroundings. Adjoining the owners’ home, both properties are located in extensive grounds with gardens, a lake, and an indoor heated swimming pool with sauna. Further facilities include an exercise room, children’s adventure playground and games room.
Ashwood Manor has been renovated and offers comfortable, well furnished rooms, ideal for large parties. There is a spacious sitting room with lovely views over the lake and countryside, separate dining room, and attractive kitchen leading to a conservatory, as well as five bedrooms, one with a king-size four-poster. Ashwood Wing offers smaller but equally comfortable holiday accommodation for a group with fewer people. Guests at both properties have their own enclosed garden and access to the owners’ 7 acres of paddocks; the lake is close to the house but is fenced for safety. Fly-fishing and coarse fishing is available all year round at Narborough trout and coarse lakes ½-mile away. Lake at house available for fun fishing.
The local area offers wonderful woodland/river walks, and the superb gardens and park at Sandringham can be visited when the Royal Family is away. Good places to visit include Castle Rising and Castle Acre. The coast is only 15 miles and is a haven for bird-watchers, with the nearest RSPB reserve at Snettisham, which also has a beautiful church and Park Farm. The long sweep of sandy beach runs from here to Hunstanton and beyond, from where the Norfolk coast path begins. Medieval Kings Lynn, with its handsome waterfront, shops, inns and restaurants is just 8 miles. Swaffham market town, 6 miles. Shop ¾ mile.

Providing a perfect retreat for discerning larger family groups, these converted barns offer spacious and comfortable accommodation boasting beamed interiors, wood-burning stoves and enclosed separate gardens with private hot tubs, and for a special meal or family celebration gourmet meals can be arranged with the owner. Beech Farm Barns are ideally located for all the family and for nature lovers there is an abundance of bird life. Within walking distance is Alderfen Broad, which is situated in The Broads National Park, a bird watcher’s delight. For the children there is BeWILDerwood Adventure Park with its treehouses, zip wires, jungle bridges and boat trips, which all combined makes a great day out. Nearby is the attractive Broads village of Horning with its selection of tea shops, restaurants and pubs. A day boat can be hired directly from the owner, or book a trip on the Mississippi steamer. The sandy beaches of the North Norfolk Coast are only 10 miles away. Alternatively spend a day in the fine city of Norwich with its magnificent cathedrals, castle, museums, theatres, market and vast array of cafes and shops. There is a wealth of National Trust properties to visit in the area which include Felbrigg Hall, Garden and Park (one of the finest 17th-century country Jacobean houses in East Anglia), Blickling Hall (a magnificent house with woodlands and lakeside walks) and Sheringham Park (beautifully landscaped and renowned for its spectacular displays of azaleas and rhododendrons in late spring). Shops and pub 1½ miles.
