Find cottages in HorningVisit Horning

The picturesque village of Horning lies between the Rivers Bure and Thurne and forms part of the Broads National Park. Its waterside location provides a lovely venue for the pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes as well as easy access to tranquil boat trips. There's plenty here for all ages.

This ancient village's history dates back to 1020 and is home to some stunning buildings that hark back to the past. The ruins of St. Benet's Abbey and St James' Hospital are still visible and the 13th Century Church of St Benedict is wholly intact and one of the village's most popular landmarks.

The Swan Inn Pub dates back to 1696 and is still in operation to this day, and the river banks are lined with picture perfect cottages, original windmills and traditional waterside eateries. The RAF Air Defence Radar Museum offers a fascinating insight into the aviation history of the village and visitors will learn a great deal about the region and the workings of the RAF over the years.

A stroll along Horning's waterway offers a feast for the eyes as the many colourful boats create a stunning rainbow spectrum across the river. The Southern Comfort Paddle Steamer is one of the waterway's main attractions and visitors can enjoy a cruise down the Broads, taking in the beautiful scenery and abundance of wildlife. During summer there are several boat races and a week-long regatta and holidaymakers can enjoy all the action from one of the many pubs or restaurants situated along the riverbanks.

For those looking to enjoy a more active holiday, Horning has much to offer. The marina and leisure club welcomes visitors who wish to enjoy water sports and there are plenty of walks and cycle tracks that take you through the village and into the surrounding countryside and nature reserve.

Search for holiday cottages in Horning and book a holiday in a small village with big attractions.
