Within walking distance of the village there are shops, restaurants and a post office within 1 mile. Golf (18-hole) at Sprowston Park 5 miles. In season there is fishing available from the property (current seasonal licence required), guests also benefit from the fact that day launches can be hired locally and moored in the private dyke.
Within easy reach of the coast, for a day at the sea, you will find Sea Palling close by with a wide sandy beach backed by sand dunes or Great Yarmouth offers a more lively atmosphere with its traditional seaside attractions. Nearby is Norwich the region’s capital, where you will find excellent shopping and many historic country houses such as Blickling Hall, Felmingham and Sandringham. Norwich Castle, built in about 1100, offers an excellent day out. Not far from the castle is the tall-spired cathedral, a marvellous example of Norman work. There is much to do in the locality, whatever your interest. Fishing on site in the river and location is ideal for golf. Shops and pubs within walking distance.

There are exhibits including a vintage holiday cruiser, a traditional steam launch and gun punt complete with guns. Slightly round the coast is Waxham Great Barn, a historic 16th-century building, which has undergone extensive restoration work, with seasonal tea rooms. Located within easy driving distance are the Norfolk Broads, a haven for wild life, where the expanse of waterway is best explored by boat - daily motor launch hire and river trips are available with plenty of riverside restaurants and picnic opportunities. The traditional seaside town of Great Yarmouth, 10 miles, for fun fair and amusements, and slightly further afield are the seaside resorts of Cromer and Sheringham, famous for shell fish and the Poppyline Steam Railway. A trip along the coastal route leads towards the RSPB and Salt Marsh Nature Reserves for excellent walks and bird watching opportunities. Boat trips to visit the Blakeney Point Nature Reserve are available from Blakeney and Morston Quay.
