The stunning location offers plenty of gloriously natural space to visitors and a one-mile walk (which crosses a road) leads to private frontage on the softly lapped shores of Windermere itself. A 2½-acre stocked lake provides free trout fishing and, at the hub of the estate, beautiful Graythwaite Hall’s lovely surrounding gardens are open to the public in the Spring.

The farm stead, from which the cottages have been formed, was built in 1890 and its position was chosen at a time when the popularity of the Lake District was just beginning to rise in wealthy Victorian circles. Visitors are well placed to explore the extraordinary and dramatic scenery for which the Lakes are so famous. At Hawkshead (4 miles) there is a gallery dedicated to her original drawings and illustrations. Valley Lodge resides on the spectacularly situated Limefitt Park in one of the Lake District’s most beautiful valleys.  The valley sides climb steeply to the surrounding peaks, such as High Street and Froswick providing breathtaking scenery.
The lodge is situated in a tranquil location with direct access on to the Lakeland Fells with an abundance of walks and wildlife and although it is only 3 miles from Windermere it retains the feeling of remoteness.  On site facilities are open from April - October and include a small supermarket, The Haybarn Inn, (a traditional Lakeland pub serving meals, including breakfast, a selection of fine ales and a beer garden) a games room, adventure playground and launderette.
Nearby leisure activities include pony trekking, cycle hire, golf, fishing and a host of water sports.   A truly wonderful location from which to enjoy a fabulous activity packed holiday.
