The 18th century Georgian port of Whitehaven to the north has a conservation harbour and marina, the Beacon Heritage Centre plus shops and restaurants, or if relaxation is a preferred option, simply unwind on the sunny patio with a good book. Direct access from the door of this Lakeland cottage leads to the slopes of Wansfell and her surrounding fell range, the village itself a manageable walk downhill of around 10 minutes. But you don’t have to be a walker to holiday here at 2 Edinboro. Ambleside has so much to offer the first time or returning guest that a week may not be enough. Every activity you can think of is on hand, be it walking, cycling and sailing and for those who prefer the more leisurely pursuits of eating, drinking and shopping, the village has an abundance of pubs, restaurants and a wide selection of interesting gift and outdoor shops.
2 Edinboro is a delightful characterful cottage blessed with all the essential ingredients for a Lakeland holiday that our guests have come to expect. The wood burning stove sits proudly as the main focal point in the living area, the floors dressed with local slate and the exposed beams and stripped pine all adding to the cottage ambience. A small patio to the front of the cottage is perfectly placed for enjoying the Lakeland air, if not the weather and blessed with two parking spaces, there really is little need to use the car all week

Peaceful setting with fishing available

These four holiday properties lie just 5 miles from the thriving market town of Kendal, which is steeped in history and offers shops, restaurants, indoor leisure centre and theatre. Bannisdale (ref 14969) and Borrowdale (ref 28528) are detached, Scandinavian-design holiday chalets and Farmhouse (ref 27300) is a detached holiday property with a lovely private garden. Riverside (ref NP2103) is a stone-built former bobbin mill, which was converted into three holiday apartments. They are discreetly situated in a tranquil setting amidst 24 acres of privately owned hill land sloping down to the river with its tumbling waters enjoying an abundance of wildlife with buzzards and herons. Beautiful walks abound on nearby Bannisdale, Potter Fell and Haweswater. Although the valley is very secluded, Windermere, with its lake, is 9 miles to the west and the Yorkshire Dales National Park is 13 miles to the east, making these cottages an ideal touring base. The valley is very peaceful and offers spectacular scenery, and no holiday would be complete without the gentle walk to the valley top at Sadgill. The properties sit alongside the River Sprint, which provides ½ mile of private river for salmon and trout fishing available 15th March to 31st October, and there is also trout fishing on the small Cocks Close Lake at £10 per day (Environment Agency licence for all types of fishing required). There is an information sheet in the cottage for further guidance on the rules of fishing in the Lake District. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Brantside is positioned just off the main thoroughfare of the village behind Barclays Bank and is a beautiful example of an end of Victorian terrace. Despite sitting so very close to the village centre. Brantside is surprisingly quiet and bring slightly elevated offers lovely views from most windows down onto the village and across to Loughrigg, Wansfell and the Fairfield Horseshoe - the property has several comfy window seats which are sure to be well utilised for this very reason!
Brantside has been thoughtfully prepared and beautifully ’dressed’ for holiday letting and shows great attention to detail in both the standard of workmanship and the exquisitely chosen fixtures and fittings; the exquisite original period light fittings being just one example. The exposed stone wall in the lounge dining room should dominate the room being such a lovely feature but ones eyes are instantly drawn to the dual aspects windows for more of that spectacular view.
