Visitors can enjoy wonderful days out exploring Gloucester, with its cathedral and historic docks area, the Malvern Hills and the beautiful Wye Valley as well as the picturesque villages and quaint market towns of the Cotswolds, which are also within easy reach. This holiday cottage, at the end of a row, is a former 17th-century weaver’s cottage which is situated in the village of Bibury, known for its honey coloured stone cottages with steeply pitched roofs. The 19th-century artist and craftsman William Morris called Bibury ‘the most beautiful village in England’ when he visited it. Opposite the property lie the picturesque Arlington Row cottages, built in 1380 as a monastic wool store, which is one of the most photographed Cotswold scenes and which have been preserved by the Royal College of Arts. The River Coln, a tributary of the River Thames, flows alongside the main village street and supplies Bibury Trout Farm. A farm shop is a 3-minute walk, which sells newspapers, milk, bread and other essential items. Places to visit include Cirencester, 6 miles, which used to be one of the largest Roman towns, or Burford, 9 miles, known as the gateway to the Cotswolds. Bath, 40 miles, is famed for its Roman connection and Georgian streets.
