Victoria Lodge Ref: HSSX

Victoria Lodge is a very Victorian house indeed! Located close to the heart of the clifftop town of Lynton, this holiday home retains the ambience and appearance of how it might have been in the Victorian era. From the sumptuously furnished and decorated bedrooms to the picture collection, this adjoining house offers something very different, and is an ideal destination to spend a holiday or to celebrate a special occasion. Despite its very Victorian appearance, the house is very much geared to modern day requirements, with all the bedrooms having en-suite facilities and televisions. There is a good-sized shared terraced garden at the rear to enjoy the surroundings and guests can enjoy the popular walks to Watersmeet and Valley of the Rocks which can start directly from the door. It is also a short walk to the heart of Lynton, which has a good range of shops, restaurants and amenities. Lynton is connected to its close seaside neighbour Lynmouth by the famous clifftop railway. Lynmouth is delightful and again has a good range of shops and places to eat. There are numerous attractions within easy reach of the house including Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and Watermouth Castle. At Croyde and Woolacombe some of the best and cleanest surf beaches in the country can be found, as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor has lots to offer including Tarr Steps, the village of Withypool and a walk up Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor. A day out into West Somerset is recommended with places such as Porlock Weir, Dunster with its castle (NT) and the seaside town of Minehead, home to the West Somerset Stream Railway. There are NT properties at Arlington and Knightshayes and the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Great Torrington. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Treetops Ref: HWT

Occupying the most superb elevated position, along the North Devon Heritage Coast, this unique holiday property is set up on the cliff side and offers unrivalled panoramic views over the bay and Bristol Channel from its principal rooms. Laid out over three floors, and of unusual ‘upside-down’ style, it makes the most of the vista from its third-floor living room and dining room, both of which offer magnificent views from their large picture windows and open out onto a spacious terraced area in which to relax and enjoy the view. Outside there are large terraced gardens, complete with furniture and barbecue.
The picturesque, ‘old-world’ fishing village of Combe Martin is a short distance away and offers its own small beach and rocky cove as well as a range of quaint local shops, tea rooms and pubs. Also well worth a visit is the pretty village of Berrynarbor, just ½ mile distant; situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it oozes charm and provides the visitor with tea rooms, a village shop/post office and an old inn (children welcome), all scattered among its traditional thatched cottages. For more extensive facilities, head for the popular harbour side town of Ilfracombe, offering boat and fishing trips to Lundy Island, secluded coves and beaches along its coast, as well as its own theatre, a swimming pool, restaurants and shops. Miles of golden sands await at the resorts of Woolacombe, Saunton and Putsborough – popular with surfers and beach lovers. Alternatively, head away from the coast and explore the wild open moors of Exmoor National Park (5 miles), where wildlife abounds and horse riding is readily available. Exmoor Zoological Park and Bossington Wildlife Park, within 10 miles. NT properties of Arlington Court, Watersmeet and Dunster Castle easily accessible. For great family days out, visit Dinosaur Park at Combe Martin, the Big Sheep at Bideford, or Watermouth Castle (just ½ mile from the property). Shops 1 mile.
