In fact The Jurassic Coast has been designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO due to its ancient geology and is of course a great place for wonderful views over the English Channel and cliff-top walks.

Dorset has wonderful walking country which is a great way to appreciate the unspoilt beauty of this region, or you could maybe take to the quiet country roads and off road cycle ways. It's a place to kick back and relax with lots of traditional country pubs and fine restaurants to discover.

The seaside towns of Bournemouth and Weymouth come highly recommended with lovely beaches and plenty of fresh sea air. You can reach the beach at Swanage via the heritage railway; it's one of the best ways to soak up your surrounds and ensure complete relaxation. With stops at Corfe Castle and the small sleepy oasis of Harman's Cross, it's also one of the best ways to get a unique perspective of Dorset's many attractions, and a true feel for its unspoiled beauty.

Also of note is Brownsea Island which offers a number of attractions for visitors, including lush woodland, an indigenous red squirrel population and a 16th century castle. For a great family day out visit Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre at Wareham where you'll find over 250 rescued monkeys and apes providing plenty of entertainment and education.

Dorset is renowned for its varied landscape and is suitable for all sorts of different holidays. Its long coastline is a perfect for cliff top walks and stunning sea views and the region's beaches are ideal for families who simply want to unwind on the sand or get active with surfing and sailing readily available; along with some expert tuition for those who fancy getting their feet wet! This magnificent listed building offers wonderful character holiday accommodation in a residential area, just a mile away from the lovely sandy beaches of Swanage Bay and a large selection of restaurants and shops. Newton Manor House dates back to the early 1600s with walls and roof built from local Purbeck stone. The house retains a lot of its original charm with ornate oak panelling and wood carvings. The principal rooms overlook the serene landscaped gardens, while the first and second floor rooms offer far-reaching views across the small seaside town of Swanage, to the sea and coast beyond. The town of Swanage nestles peacefully amidst the beautiful Isle of Purbeck countryside, and is set between the Heads of Durlston and Studland, sloping gently down to the water’s edge. This small pleasant resort has an array of restaurants, interesting shops and a small theatre, not to mention spectacular floral displays in the parks and gardens. In season, pleasure cruisers leave the pier daily, bound for Poole, Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight. The Lifeboat Centre at Pervil Point is open to the public and fascinating to visit, whilst Durlston Country Park provides magnificent cliff walks and views of Anvil Point Lighthouse. A trip aboard Swanage’s restored steam railway also makes for a fun day out, winding its way through pretty scenery to the ruins of Corfe Castle. Magnificent coastal walks extend north from the town to the National Trust sandy beaches at Studland while the South West Coastal Path leads to Kimmeridge, Tyneham and West Lulworth in the west, much of which is National Trust land and rich in local flora and fauna. The larger seaside resorts of Poole and Bournemouth are just a ferry ride away, boasting a huge range of shops, theatres, museums, cinemas, and restaurants. The entire coast is excellent for trying out all manner of watersports - windsurfing, water-skiing, yachting and surfing to name just a few. The Coach House Ref: DZW

On the outskirts of Lyme Regis, on the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast and ¾ mile from the beach, scenic harbour and historic Cobb, these two properties; a 300 year old Coach House, and single storey thatched cottage offer excellent holiday accommodation individually or for for larger groups can be booked together to sleep up to 16 guests. The Coach House, which is located on one side of a beautiful high walled courtyard has charm and character, retaining an inglenook, beams, flagstones and one four-poster bedroom, and is ideal to accommodate two family groups or larger extended families. On the other side of the courtyard is Stable Cottage which is thatched, built from local stone and makes excellent family accommodation. Being on the outskirts of Lyme Regis, one can enjoy a stroll into Lyme itself and wander around the local shops, lanes, cafes, restaurants and along the picturesque Cobb, made famous by the film The French Lieutenant’s Woman, or simply chill out on the beach, fishing, boating, beach walking and of course fossil hunting. There is superb scenic coastal walking all along the Lyme Bay Coast, with views stretching to Portland Bill and far into Devon, and for those without a faint heart, the National Trust’s Golden Cap, southern England’s highest cliff is an exhilarating walk with spectacular scenery. One can visit the many popular seaside resorts from Weymouth in the east to Abbotsbury, West Bay, Charmouth, Seaton, Sidmouth and onto Exmouth in the west, or enjoy the beautiful Dorset countryside with its quaint villages, pubs and cream tea cafes. There are many historic houses to visit, including Forde Abbey and Gardens and Montacute House and Gardens, and family entertainment such as The Donkey Sanctuary, Crealy Adventure Park and inland Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum. Dating back to 1630 - when it was originally established as a coaching inn - Old Monmouth lies in the heart of the popular seaside resort of Lyme Regis and forms one of a row of properties, just 100 yards from the seafront. Old Monmouth has endured a chequered history with Monmouth’s cavalry lodging there in 1685, being visited by Oscar Wilde in 1891 and used by the Americans as a HQ during the war. This unique property is an excellent holiday home to enjoy Lyme Regis with its famous Cobb, beach, shops and cafes, and also to explore the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. There is superb scenery, coastal walking, golf and fishing on the doorstep, and within easy driving distance are Bridport, Charmouth, Beer, Seaton and Sidmouth. Weymouth, with its Deep Sea Adventure, Timewalk and many other attractions also makes for a good family visit. There are a host of National Trust properties to visit, as well as Forde Abbey and Gardens - whilst inland, the Yeovilton Air Museum, the Haynes Motor Museum, Sherborne Castle and much more provide alternative days out.
