Beaminster is a charming rural town in West Dorset; a bustling traditional market town, it sits at the head of the valley of the River Britt, a picturesque conservation area full of wonderful wildlife and countryside.

The town itself is a look back in time, with over 200 listed buildings in the area. This quintessential English country town has a prosperous market that draws a big crowd of both locals and visitors alike. Packed with great places to eat, often selling local produce, and a wealth of country pubs, the town is very friendly and perfect for a no hassle country break.

There are a number of excellent outdoor activities to suit all sorts, from groups of friends to families or couples. Nearby stables offer horse riding and there is even a llama farm or donkey rides if you fancy trying something different. The nearby Water Meadow Fishery offers coarse fishing and there is a rowing club that has a range of activities for visitors to enjoy.

The Britt Valley is a conservation area and is popular for walkers and hikers, offering wonderful views across the countryside and with options to suit both casual strollers and serious ramblers alike. Nearby Mapperton House, a grand, stately home that sits in immaculate gardens in one of the most beautiful areas of the valley, is well worth a visit. Why not make a long weekend of it and stay in one of the many cosy cottages in Beaminster.
